Some news from Brimbank CC.
1) Jones, Bunting & Old Geelong Rd Update, provided by Ray Martin, Infrastructure Development Coordinator | Engineering Services | Brimbank City Council
Jones and Bunting Road construction
Construction works are well underway for both Jones and Bunting Roads. There have been a couple of minor hiccups such as a water main not being where we were advised it was and encountering the old rail line under Bunting Road.
Completion is expected to be late August.
Jones and Bunting Road landscaping
Plans are currently being developed for the landscaping of the naturestrips alongside the roads, although we are constrained by the narrowness of the strip along Bunting Road.
The plan is to provide vegetated swales where possible. These will provide some water quality treatment for stormwater entering the underground drainage system.
Landscaping works will be commenced shortly after the completion of the road works.
We are yet to decide whether permanent bollards will be installed with the landscaping. A vegetated swale with some large rocks may be strategically placed to stop trucks from trying to use the naturestrip for parking.
Old Geelong Road bollards
Bollards are proposed to be installed on the north side of Old Geelong Road. The bollards have been purchased by Council and installation will commence in the next couple of weeks.
Old Geelong Road widening
Council allocated $50,000 in the 2015/16 Capital Works Program for the preparation of a design for the widening of Old Geelong Road from Princes Highway to TPI’s entrance. The plan is to provide kerb and channel and asphalting on the north side of the road together with the construction of a vegetated swale.
An allocation for the physical works has not been made at this stage. Back to TOP
