Anakbayan NJ joins "Independence" day celebrations in NY, NJ

Anakbayan New Jersey joined Philippine "Independence" day parade in New York under the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns contingent. At the parade, Anakbayan NJ reminded that the struggle for liberation is not yet over so long as foreign powers like China and the United States dominate the Philippines.

Anakbayan members also joined the celebration in Jersey City and marched with the Filipino Immigrants and Workers Organizing Project (FIWOP). Anakbayan NJ called on the community to stand up for workers and immigrant rights by advocating for driver's license for undocumented immigrants, stronger protection against wage theft and an increase in minimum wage to $15.

Anakbayan NJ joins the rest of the rest of the Filipino people in condemning both the Chinese aggression and US intervention in the Philippines. Joelle Lingat, Anakbayan NJ Chairperson joined the "Boycott China" at the Apple Store in Manhattan and called on Filipinos to unite against all threats to Philippine sovereignty. Members of Anakbayan later distributed flyers in Jersey City 5 Corners to talk and engage the Filipino community. See Anakbayan-USA's statement here
