Many thanks for some incredible fundraising

This Monday, Oxfordshire Mind was presented with a cheque for just over £20,000 by the family and friends of the late Zak Harper. Jackie and Richard, Zak's mother and stepfather (above, right) and their family have organised nine months of concerts, gigs, collections and celebrations to commemorate Zak's life and raise money for Oxfordshire Mind.

We have also been very grateful for the hard work of other keen fundraisers who have been busy raising money for us:
  • the staff at Symm & Co raised £714 from a Tuck Shop and a charity raffle held at the Symm 200 year anniversary party on Saturday.
  • Oxfordshire Mind team member, Susan Mundy, raised £510 at her retirement party in June (see the article below for more details)
  • Staff and students at St Peter's college have been very busy over this academic year and will be sending us their final fundraising totals shortly... watch this space!
As ever, we're incredibly grateful to everyone who fundraises for us. If you're inspired to fundraise, please visit our website for more ideas.

A big thank you and a fond farewell

Our colleague, Susan Mundy, writes to say goodbye to Oxfordshire Mind after 12 years with our Wellbeing Service:

"After nearly 12 years with Oxfordshire Mind it is with mixed emotions that I say good bye to you all. I have really enjoyed my time working for Mind and feel lucky that I have had such an interesting and varied career. It has been a pleasure meeting and working with such talented, committed and caring people, both staff and the people who use our services. I have learned so much from you all, and take away lots of wonderful memories and stories.

Thank you for all your kind words, cards and messages, I will treasure each and every one. I am looking forward to choosing something for my garden with the gift vouchers you kindly gave me, Nottcut is my favourite garden centre: thank you.  As I am planning to spend more time working in my garden now I am retied maybe a nice comfy chair is something I might choose, in which to relax after my labours.

My fundraising supper was huge success, once again my thanks to everyone who brought a ticket. Special thanks go to Val Smith for all her help and support in getting right on the night and to Beth Brown-Reid for allowing me the uses of the Abingdon project for the evening. Together we raised a staggering £510.50, every penny of which will be given Oxfordshire Mind.

Wishing you all good health and happiness.
Best wishes
Susan"

We wish Susan a lovely retirement!

Seeking the views of young people on how they receive mental health services

Healthwatch Oxfordshire is working with researchers at the Said Business School to investigate the ways in which young Adult Mental Health Service users integrate their NHS treatment with other services.

The research will be asking young people aged between 18 and 35 about the websites, mobile apps and support services provided by the private or voluntary sector that they also use alongside NHS mental health services.

For further information and to take a short survey, please visit the Healthwatch Oxfordshire website.
