Google Fiber begins construction in Charlotte

Google Fiber announced the official start of construction in Charlotte. Read the details here. Realistically we can't expect to have residential service from Google Fiber this year; stay patient.

Fiber Huts: the third Fiber Hut building plan has been filed: 1348 Atando Av 28206. This one is named CLT-112.

AT&T Announces Availability of GigaPower in Charlotte

AT&T announced availability of GigaPower service in Charlotte. Most people we contacted said their address was 'not eligible'. For those eligible, they had problems signing up.

Gaston County has Gigabit Fever

The county recently commissioned Dr. Stephen Hannon to head a steering committee to explore how best to attract ISPs to build a Gigabit infrastructure. Read about it here.

Position Available

Queens University received a grant to fund a position of Digital Inclusion Project Manager. To review the position and apply click here. This position will work with stakeholders across the city, including the two Digital Inclusion Fellowship positions at the Urban League and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.
