The West Linn Historical Society Presents:
The 8th Annual Willamette Living History Tour

Tour Date: Saturday, September 19, 2015

On July 1, tickets for the 2015 Living History Tour went on sale.

The Willamette Living History Tour is held on the third Saturday of September each year and
this year the tour date is set for Saturday, September 19. The first tour departs at 6:30pm and
tours continue every 15 minutes until the last tour departs at 8:30pm. Tickets must be purchased
in advance for $20 each and are available on website (www.willamettelivinghistory.org).

The tour, in its eighth year, is a unique and creative way to experience the early history of West Linn. A cast of nearly 100 volunteers re-enact scenes and characters from the real-life town of Willamette as it might have been in 1913.  Often described as a "Colonial Williamsburg like experience" this living history tour is unlike any other tour or theatrical experience in our area.

As the tickets quickly sell out, now begins the challenge of finding volunteer guides, actors, production crew and other assistants to make this event come together. Anyone interested in being a part of the volunteers should contact willamettelivinghistory@gmail.com.

Travel back in time to 1913...

Back to a time… when the Town of Willamette was its own municipality and the City of West Linn was newly incorporated.  Cars were only for the super rich, livestock wandered the street and horses outnumbered people 10 to 1.  Women had finally won their right to vote, and suffragists lay down their sashes and banners, only to raise them up again, this time against alcohol . . .the devil's drink! Temperance was the newest issue at hand.

Tours begin on a horse drawn carriage. Tour guides will then lead you as you walk the neighborhood, encounter live scenes of everyday life and meet many of the town leaders who helped shape Willamette's future. You will go inside the homes of some of Willamette’s residents and hear music from the period. Finish your tour at Lavender Bleu Gift Shop with complimentary light snacks, beverages & music.

We invite you to join us for "An Evening in Willamette - 1913."
