Summer Knits & Knotes

Vacation & Travels

Birthday Month :)
I thought I'd do something a bit different for this month's newsletter. I've just returned from a week at the beach and will return for another in a week. This is truly unusual for me, as I do not typically get to go to the ocean TWICE in one summer!! It is such a treat. And then (yes there's more!) I will go camping in the mountains with my family at the end of the month to celebrate turning 50!! Yikes! That's a scary number but I'm facing it with lots of knitting, crocheting, drawing, and reading. And listening to podcasts! I wanted to share with you the knitting podcasts that I'm loving these days. There are SO many yarn-related podcasts that are really fun to listen to or watch. The only video cast I watch from time to time is Susan B. Anderson's. I tend to listen to the audio podcasts more since I can do that while also doing something else. Vacation offers a lot of time for listening... as I drive, while I knit, etc. Click on the link to go to Susan's blog where you will see her video podcasts. But for the audio ones, I subscribe to them so that I know when a new one has been added.

Knitting Pipeline.  Paula Emmons-Fuessle is a wonderful knitter, designer, bagpipe player and nature enthusiast. You will love all the knitterly and naturely inspiration here!

Woolful. This podcast features all kinds of women who are active in the fiber arts world in numerous ways. From knitters and designers to spinners and dyers and even shepherdesses! It's a lovely listen getting to hear how women are making the fiber arts a way of life and a career.

Knit FM. I have just recently discovered this podcast which is currently "on vacation". The two power-house designers, Hannah Fettig and Pam Allen, created this podcast as an educational offering and boy is it amazing! I'm learning so much! I just started with the very first podcast and am listening my way through them all. They are just taking a break and plan to be back at some point in the future. Wonderfully informative!

Those are my current favorite three. But there are so so many others you can discover by just Googling "knitting podcasts". Loads of knitterly inspiration!

Classes!

July will have a scaled back class schedule due to all the traveling I mentioned above. :) I will be at Knit One Smock Too offering a Basic Knitting class for any who wish to learn or refresh their skills. If you click on the link you will see ALL the other wonderful class offerings in July...Tatting is now added to the abundance of wonderful stitching skills you can learn at this awesome shop!

Here are the times and dates for Basic Knitting I'm teaching: Wednesdays July 8 and 22 10-noon, Thursdays July 9 and 23 6-8 pm. Call the shop 765-9099 to sign up for one, two or all of these classes!! $20 for one class, $35 for two, or for a real bargain, all four for $45!!

AND as a heads-up for early August: If you know any young gals who would like to learn to crochet, I'm offering a Crochet Camp for girls ages 10-15, August 4-6 from 10-noon. Again, call the shop to sign up your child, grandchild or friend.

Thank you all so much for your subscription to this Newsletter! I look forward to creating them and sending you a little inspiration for your knitterly (and crocheterly) art!

Artfully Yours,
Jennifer
