Pemberton Valley Lodge Opens Artists Corner

Judy has been creating one of kind stained glass artworks for 35 years. A long time Birken resident, Judy takes great inspiration from her natural surroundings and world travels. Judy’s pieces range from everything including landscapes, events and everyday moments. If the mind can imagine it Judy can create a custom piece to reflect it.

This ancient art form takes great patience and experience. Hand crafted pieces can often take weeks to months to prepare. In order to create a great piece Judy must take into factor light, placement and subject matter. You can view Judy’s handcrafted stain glass artwork in our new “Local Artisans Corner.” The exhibit is open to both guests and visitors alike.

How to Beat the Summer Heat in Pemberton

If you haven’t noticed Pemberton is currently experiencing a bit of a hot spell. To help you out we’ve put together a list of our favourite ways to beat the Pemberton heat. Spoiler: Cold water is usually involved.

  1. Hit One Mile Lake — One Mile Lake is close by and a great place to cool off for awhile. The picture above is a great shot of the lake: You’ll find families, lots of swimming and playing in the water here. There’s shade and sun, and a nice boardwalk that circumvents the lake. Though it’s very close to the village and Highway 99, you’ll feel secluded and sheltered at the lake.
  2. Joffre and Lillooet Lakes — If you’re in for an intense jolt of glacial water, these lakes will hit the spot. A bit farther afield than our own One Mile Lake, but with Joffre being listed as the number one thing to do in our area, it’s definitely worth the drive.
  3. Mosquito, Ivey and Gates Lakes — A bit warmer than Joffre and Lillooet Lakes, it will take you about 20 minutes to reach any of’these three lakes.
