At this year’s Alliance conference diplomats, government officials and leading experts from the field of combating human trafficking came together to explore a range of issues associated with trafficking along migration routes and in destination countries. The event put a spotlight on an increasingly urgent international issue with grave security implications for the OSCE and its neighbouring regions, allowing the Organization to stress its approach of preventing the crime, protecting the victims and prosecuting traffickers, as well as creating partnerships to increase collaboration in the struggle to end modern-day slavery.
In this issue of OSCE LINK, we invite you to learn more about the history of the Alliance conference and our ongoing work to combat trafficking in human beings. Our latest project is underway in Ukraine, where we are helping to build the capacity of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to recognize situations where this crime can occur.
