The Squad is back to build our Talking Toolkit!

Join us July 19 from 11-1 and July 21 from 1-3 at Headlong Studios!

Hey there! We know it's been a while. Swim Pony has been doing lots, but we haven't lost sight of our Awesome Lady goals. Back in the early meetings of The Awesome Lady Squad, we identified a series of problems the Squad wanted to solve and some things we’d like to have help to do. Some of the most frequently mentioned “wish list” items were these:

• Skills to handle tough conversations about gender parity.
• A way to talk about this that doesn’t become apologetic or defensive.
• Something to say when I sense people starting to roll their eyes.
• The ability to talk and explain the “no” to a project that doesn’t conform to my moral code.

We started talking about ways to address these goals, and decided to put together a conversation toolkit and practice. Just like a business negotiation, knowing that you’ve done this thing before is half the battle. A task force started identifying potentially sticky moments and crafting clear and concise language and talking points.

If you were a part of those first meetings, we'd love to have you back. If you've never been but always wanted to jump in on an Awesome Lady Adventure, we'd love to have you too. We are excited to continue building the Talking Toolkit and make it into something that one can download online and that we can hold practice sessions with. Join us for one or both meetings to make this wishlist item a reality.
