The Rest Is Noise
Many thanks to everyone who' s downloaded and supported our new album The Rest Is Noise so far. Your support means a great deal to us: it helps Darkroom continue to develop creatively and sustainably, and release new music. Please share this link to the album with anyone you think might be interested in discovering what we do as well: darkroomtheband.bandcamp.com/album/the-rest-is-noise
Sonic Imperfections
You can hear us both interviewed about the album's development and our recording process on the Sonic Imperfections podcast, streamed from Resonance FM here. Thanks to Ian and the Sonic Imperfections team for hosting us, and for making us sound so coherent! The new piece featured - Never The Same Way Once - is also available to stream from Soundcloud here. Share and enjoy.
Forthcoming Concerts
If you've not had chance to listen yet, The Rest Is Noise is based on recordings made at the Tuesdays Post concert series we co-organised in London with Georgina Brett over the last year. Tuesdays Post is on hold for now, while we work on other recordings and plan the next phase. But in September there'll be different opportunities to see Darkroom live. On Friday September 4th we'll be part of a late opening at the Wellcome Trust building in London as part of The Hubbub project currently based there. Later in September, we'll be supporting and contrasting with progressive rock gurus Sanguine Hum (featuring our collaborator, drummer Andrew Booker) on a short UK tour (Leicester 18th, Bristol 19th & London 20th). More details here.
Collaborations
Before then, Mike is busy with Andrew and long-time collaborator Tim Bowness, putting together shows in the UK and Poland to support Tim's solo album out last week. Great to see you at any of these performances if you can get there.
Bandcamp
Lastly, on a more philosophical but very current note. As a band, we're strong supporters of Bandcamp for the way it allows us to connect directly with anyone interested in our music: whether for purchasing vinyl or CDs, downloading as part of a collection, or streaming. We recently discovered this talk by one of Bandcamp's founders that explains their origins and goals,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaUkS-lr-ZM
contrasting these with much higher profile subscription audio streaming services. There's plenty of debate - some of it highly polarised - about the differing long term values of these services for listeners and artists, and we're currently reviewing what they do for us.
Until next time
Thanks for reading, listening, and supporting what we do.
