LifeTalks Newsletter

Amanda Hudson LifeMOT CIC

Thank you to Jane Moss who's Writing for Well-being session was absolutely inspiring. Who'd have thought we would all be writing poetry and what a brilliant discussion following the session.
This months talk is a natural follow on. I'd like to say I planned it that way but sometimes things just naturally fall into place. This falls into that category nicely. Medium Rare, see below, are a partnership of creative minds and will be discussing how we keep the creative flow and still have structure.

I've had a thought, prompted partly by a colleague and partly by the good weather and wanting to be outside more. How about LifeWalks? A get together once in a while, maybe on a Saturday afternoon where we walk, discuss, stop at a cafe, discuss and walk.... I love walking, it's a time for me to catch up with myself or friends and there's so many beautiful places to walk in Cornwall, why not combine talking and walking and socialising and as a bonus we're improving our health. Let me know what you think please.

Below our LifeTalk events we have additional News from LifeMOT CICWe offer one to one or group coaching for businesses in Cornwall and also community workshops. If you work with unemployed people or people living with a health condition you will be interested in our courses.
Please remember that this group is open to all so please share the Newsletter. If there is a particular speaker you would like or an event that we could host, please let me know.

LifeTalks - What's on?
August 11th@7pm
Medium Rare -
The problem of not ticking boxes
Medium Rare -  Medium Rare is a partnership of creative producers, developing new ways to engage the public with art, and add to the current cultural landscape. Samuel Jay Chessell, Henry Osman and Elle Sambrook:
Medium Rare, in their team of three, will speak on both the benefits and disadvantages of being a fresh-faced start-up company, run by young graduates, that does not necessarily fit within any given category.
Does the formalised structure of a ‘box ticking’ society stifle creative organisations & individuals? And how does one navigate through or around these problems? Medium Rare promises no answers, but will certainly bring these debates and more to the table. As an adaptable and free-flow organisation, based on the strengths of the team to understand and practically implement creative ideas of any kind, the talk will discuss the argument that how you do what you, can and should perhaps be more important than what you do.
Oct 13th @7pm
Jill Aldis -
Craniosacral Therapy. Changing the way you feel
Jill Aldis -  will explain the Theory, history and science behind Upledger Craniosacral Therapy and the Somato Emotional Release™ process that makes it unique from other forms of Craniosacral Therapy. There will be a short demonstration of a Craniosacral Therapy treatment, a chance to feel the pressure used during a treatment and have fun discovering your own and other peoples Craniosacral Rhythm.
Jill owns  Falmouth Natural Health Practice and specialises in Upledger Craniosacral Therapy.  This  is a very gentle, effective manipulative technique that has its origins in Osteopathy. It is used to correct imbalances in the Craniosacral system, assisting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It explores the emotional or physical trauma that can become trapped in our bodies that can manifest as pain and dysfunction. By allowing a person to reconnect with what they are feeling in their body, they can begin a journey of self-discovery to find out exactly what they need to do to enable them to return to optimum health. Website

Jayne Howard - Reclaiming the arts for everyone
Jayne Howard is Director of Arts for Health Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, an organisation she joined ten years ago after a career in the NHS. Arts for Health Cornwall’s mission is to improve health and wellbeing through creativity and is based on a belief that the arts, culture and creativity are vital to our wellbeing. Its work provides people with opportunities to take part in the arts and benefit from being creative, whatever their state of health. It works across all creative media and with a range of partners responding to identified needs and gaps. Jayne will consider the following questions drawing from Arts for Health Cornwall’s experiences and examples.  If the arts, and the ways people engage in them, encompass a huge spectrum and ‘arts for health’ practices are similarly diverse how can we best reflect this rich diversity and experience with the rigour required in an evidence-based health and care culture? In what ways can the arts and creativity enhance health and wellbeing and how can we best describe this?
