SAM'S CENTS
Save Labels for Food

It is tempting to label our kids.
The artistic one.
The athletic one.
The shy one.
The messy one.
The mischievous one.

The problem is that these labels stick. Like adults, kids tend to rise to our expectations. So if we label her the trouble maker, she will assume the role. If we label him the shy kid,
we might have squashed his natural evolution into an extroverted teen.
So as tempting as it may be,
let’s leave the labeling to food and
wine and keep helping our children reach their potential.
