Hej Alla,

SACC-LA gives a warm LA welcome to Team Sweden that has now arrived to sunny California to compete in the Special Olympics World Games 2015.

And it’s an honor to also welcome Swedish Minister Gabriel Wikström to LA and the Special Olympics World Games, including all the wonderful Team Sweden supporters, Parasport Sweden and the Swedish Paralympic Committee.  

SACC-LA is looking forward to celebrate these talented athletes and everyone who have helped them on their way to the Special Olympics 2015, this Sunday July 26th at our official Team Sweden Kick-Off Party.

We also want to extend a huge gratitude to our extraordinary sponsors of the event, Expert DOJO, ETON, Embassy of Sweden, SWEA-LA, Swedish Institute, Sockerbit, Kitson, Cutie Booth, Rekorderlig, Barley Forge, SHOOPS, The Fat Dog, Bloomingdales, Film Festival Flix and Santa Monica Place.  Thank you to the volunteers and all the kind people that have helped us to be able to create this happy event.

Team Sweden Has Arrived to Los Angeles

Team Sweden consists of 61 athletes and 32 coaches that will do everything in their power to win gold during the 2015 Special Olympics. The Swedish athletes will compete in bowling, soccer, athletics, golf, handball, judo, equestrian and swimming. Read more

This Sunday, July 26th, SACC-LA will host a kick-off party for Team Sweden and the Special Olympics World Games 2015. SACC-LA would like to extend a big thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors for making this event come true!  

Impressive Line-Up at the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony

This Saturday, July 25th, we encourage everyone to attend or watch the Opening Ceremony for the Special Olympics, taking place live at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The Special Olympics is the biggest sports event in the world 2015, and they have many very exciting artists for the Opening Ceremony, with guest appearances from Michelle Obama, Stevie Wonder and Jimmy Kimmel. Click here in case you would like to purchase tickets to attend the actual Ceremony Live in Los Angeles. If you don’t not have the opportunity to attend the event in person, you can watch it live on Saturday at 6 pm Pacific Time via ESPN here

Home Win at Swedish Open

The Swedish athletes just keep on impressing. We recently told you about the Swedish men’s Under-21 soccer team who won gold at the European Championships. And now we are happy to celebrate Johanna Larsson winning the Swedish Open in BÃ¥stad this past Sunday.

 

With a win over Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan in the semi-final,  Swedish tennis player Johanna Larsson, 26, advanced to her fourth WTA final where she managed to defeat German player Mona Barthel and enjoy her first WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) title on home court at this year’s Swedish Open in BÃ¥stad.

Welcome Our New Marketing Managers

Now that we have said goodbye to our previous team of Marketing Managers here att SACC-LA we would like to present our newcomers. First up is Astrid and Victor. Next week we will introduce you to Pontus And Sophie. 


Astrid Lindesvärd
(Finance & Accounting)



With her international background, huge interest in meeting new people, positive energy and proactivity Astrid hopes to contribute to the Swedish-American Chamber's future success and feel very eager to meet all the members during the up-and-coming events! To continue challenge herself, acquiring new knowledge, taking initiative and arranging social activities to excel as a person has constantly been her way of life. Astrid was born in London, thereafter moved to Stockholm, Germany; Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Singapore, Oslo and now most recently finished her MSc in Business and Economics at Lund’s University.

Being a sportsperson Astrid is very eager to continue challenge herself and is now looking forward to a new International experience in Los Angeles and to be heading finance and accounting for the Chamber during the Fall.


Victor Dansk
(Event Planning)



Victor was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. After finishing secondary school, Victor worked as an accounting associate at PwC before applying to Uppsala University in order to pursue his bachelor’s degree within business administration. During his time at Uppsala University Victor has created many different events for the university’s business and economics’ association. 

 

Prior to his arrival in Los Angeles, Victor spent five months in Beijing, China, studying Mandarin Chinese. As event manager, Victor hopes to gain even more knowledge and experience when it comes to event planning in order create memorable events for the Chamber’s members.

Finally, Victor has the ambition to maintain current member relationships to the highest satisfactory level, as well as to create new relationships that will benefit both the Chamber and its members in the long run.
