First-class relic of St. Augustine of Hippo: The Diocese of St. Augustine has received a first-class relic of St. Augustine of Hippo in conjunction with its celebration of the 450th anniversary of the founding of the city of St. Augustine and its first Catholic parish. The relic itself is a finger of Saint Augustine, which dates back to 430 A.D., and is encased in a reliquary (a container for holy relics) in the form of a crucifix made of silver and adorned with precious stones. For more information on this event, contact Mike Sylvester at (904) 262-3200, ext. 189 or email msylvester@dosafl.com. Engaging Parents Forming Family Faith, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Niceville. Presented by the Center for Ministry Development. Designed for all parish, diocesan and catholic School leaders whose ministries touch the family – including pastors, deacons, pastoral associates, coordinators of youth ministry, leaders in faith formation and catechists, sacramental preparation leaders, family ministers, service/social concerns leaders, Catholic School principals and teachers.

Reporting Sexual Abuse Notices for Parish Bulletins:
As part of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, approved by the U.S. Bishops in 2002, each parish is required to publish notices in their bulletins that explain how and where people can report allegations of sexual child abuse. The notices should be published in your parish bulletin one week every other month (six times a year). A notice can also be posted somewhere on your Parish/School website. Please include a notice for each language that your parish celebrates the Mass in. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Safe Environment at HR@ptdiocese.org.

Televised Mass is available in the Pensacola area at 10:30 a.m. Sundays on Cox cable channel 12, (WJTC/UPN Mobile). Following the Mass, Catholic in America, produced by the television ministry at St. Dominic Parish in Panama City, will air. This program uses a newsmagazine format to promote the activities and ministries found at our parishes. Tune in at 11 a.m. (Central) to channel WJTC44. The program is available in the Pensacola, Mobile and Fort Walton Beach areas on local cable networks.

Young Adults:  Volunteer Opportunity: Alfred Washburn Homeless Center, First Saturdays 8:30am-1pm, and other Saturdays as needed. This center is always looking for Saturday volunteers.

The Refugee Program at Catholic Charities (Pensacola) is in need of volunteers to work with the refugees. There are several capacities in which a person can work with a refugee. We need ESL tutors, help for children with their school homework, help with transportation (either teaching refugees how to ride the bus or offering a ride), help with application for their social security card, help with finding employment, help with cultural orientation, etc. In kind donations are also needed. Hospice Craft Workshops: All are welcome to join the women of St Sylvester on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.  Everyone can assist in their own little way.  The mission is to make end of life a little more toleterable for folks by giving them little gifts.  We work on  different projects making lap blankets, hats, booties, walker bags and many other great gifts.  We would love to have you join us....all talents are welcome.  Donations of fabric or yarn we can always accept. Alfred-Washburn Center (AWC) urgently needs your help!  AWC is a homeless facility operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  Each day, this remarkable mission serves 100-130 homeless who visit to eat, shower, obtain clothing or to do their laundry. AWC currently needs male volunteers on Saturdays to provide these much-needed services. Catholic Charities Adoption Services is in need of families that are willing to provide a temporary home and care for infants receiving services through our program. You will be required to go through a full licensing process with our assistance similar to the foster care system; however, these homes are available strictly for Catholic Charities’ use. The Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is an organization composed primarily of volunteers who act as advocates in the court system for abused, abandoned or neglected children.  The volunteer works with a case coordinator and attorney, to address the best interests of these children.  The time commitment is very flexible and is usually only a few hours a month.  Training for new volunteers is held every month. Volunteers develop relationships with children who often have had no stable adult in their life, showing these children that someone truly cares about them. If you have a love for children and the ability to commit to walking with a child through a difficult time in his/her life…the Guardian ad Litem Program needs you.   To learn more about the program or to register for training, call 1-866-341-1GAL (1425) or log onto www.guardianadlitem.org.

Mary's Shelter Gulf Coast, St. Thomas-by-the-Sea Catholic Church, Orange Beach, AL.  Mary's Shelter Gulf Coast is seeking representatives from Pensacola area Catholic Churches to serve on its Outreach Committee. Help ESL Students- By Teaching or Providing Childcare. (On summer break - check back in the fall!) St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church is looking for volunteers to work with adults learning English as a Second Language (ESL), as well as those willing to provide childcare for parents taking ESL classes.  Never worked with an ESL student before?  Don't worry; training will be provided.  ESL classes are given weekly, Mondays and Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m., St. John’s School Cafeteria.
