2015 FAMILY CONFERENCE

Please join us at the Second Annual Family Support Conference Tuesday, August 11 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. This Conference is to better inform families of students with special needs and disabilities about Special Education Services in Buffalo Public Schools. The Family Support Conference is at West Hertel Academy, School #94, 489 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, NY 14207. State Plans Public Meetings on Vocational Rehabilitation and Supported Employment Services
The New York State Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services- Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR), with the State Rehabilitation Council, is developing the State Plan for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and Supported Employment (SE) Services beginning July 1, 2016.  To assist in the development of the State Plan, individuals with disabilities, their families, advocates, employers and service providers are invited to attend the public meetings to provide comments on the provision of vocational rehabilitation services. Afterschool Care
People Inc., who are helping individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs lead more heathy, independent and productive lives, currently has openings for its afterschool respite programs in Buffalo. Learn more at Afterschool Care.
 
Basic Interpreter Training Program
Deaf Access Services introduces its NEW Basic Interpreter Training Program (BITP). The program will allow students to further their American Sign Language Training by becoming a Sign Language Interpreter. Learn more at Basic Interpreter Training Program.

Family Driven Planning
Be Part of an Exciting NEW Project! Hillside Family of Agencies & School of Social Work and University at Buffalo are doing a study of Family Driven Planning to better understand its ability to increase individuals’ quality of life through increased support networks. We are asking 70 individuals with DD and their families to participate in this study. For more information visit Family Driven Planning.
