Quarter-Finals All Shook Up!

Four greyhounds entered the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, July 22 of the $60,000 Open at Bluffs Run, running perfectly. But all four stumbled to shake up the points standings.

When the six quarterfinal races were finished, two greyhounds were on top with 40 points each. That number is important; usually a greyhound collecting 40 points in the four qualifying rounds of a Bluffs Run stakes makes the championship race.

One of the new co-leaders is one of the second-round leaders, DS PHOENIX (Bean & Stout). Phoenix, 16-6-1-2, was out finished in the homestretch to finish second in Wednesday’s seventh race by a length and a half. The other new co-leader is BOC’S TONY ROMO (Boeckenstedt), 30-13-5-5. Maybe the best finisher in the field, Tony Romo broke sixth in the eighth race and came on to rally in the homestretch to win by a length. The co-leaders have posted two wins and a second in the three rounds.

There is a drop-off to a pair of second round leaders with 34 points each. Both posted fifth place finishes in the quarterfinal races. KJ’S JOMAX (Mickim), 30-6-4-7, was second early on in the eighth race before fading to fifth. BOC’S HANK JR (Boeckenstedt), 28-18-2-5, had his five-race win streak snapped. He was running second before being bumped and blocked late in dropping to fifth.

Orange Park Derby Round 3 Preview

Only the best of the best remain in the 3rd round of the 2015 Orange Park Derby and they will be loaded and ready to fire on Friday evening at bestbet Jacksonville. Four great races are on top including several stakes veterans, newcomers to the route, and even last year’s champ. Two remain undefeated throughout the two rounds, TMC’S SWEETY PIE and O YA GUNSMOKE. Both could keep the sheet clean again tonight. Let’s check out the remaining 32 greyhounds and see if we can’t get you cashing some tickets this weekend here at bestbet Jacksonville.

3rd Round of the 2015 Orange Park Derby tonight:

Race 5 – Speed is the key to success in the start off race here in the quarter-finals. O YA LEXI is all about the lead and has wired some of the best fields at the racetrack over 660 yards on the front end. Here she gets the 1 box and that is enough to get her nose in front early on, for her to steal away several lengths, and for her to hold on for the victory at the finish line. Pushing the pace should be the always staking threat, and round 1 winner, SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR, the “always in the money but I just can’t win a race” runner WAUBUN BLIZZARD, and the “I always try really hard at the start but am just a bit short over 660 threat” GM’S ANNABELL.

We recently received a letter from a Greyhound Channel customer:

"I would like to take this time to thank Greyhound Channel for all the outstanding promotions they run for their customers. From the weekly contests (Handicapping Contest, Fetch 5, Cycle) to the extended promotions (Last Handicapper Standing, Dog Days of Summer), they are always looking for unique and fun ways to reward their customers. Personally, I know my wagering level increases when I receive some of the bonus money they reward. A sincere thanks to Greyhound Channel's Promotional Department - a job well done!"
