KaBoom! Playground Coming to Niagara Falls
We are excited to announce that The City of Niagara Falls has been awarded a Build it with KaBOOM! Playground Grant in partnership with Canada Dry Motts. This grant will support the rebuild of the playground located at Heritage Park.
The playground will be community built, utilizing 200 volunteers, on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 (rain or shine). The volunteer base will derive from local residents and representatives from Canada Dry Motts.

Moonlight Flicks in Downtown Niagara Falls
We are excited to announce the 2015 Moonlight Flicks in the Park Series with the Downtown B.I.A and Open Concept Films. This summer, 4 nights are scheduled, starting this Thursday July 16 in downtown Niagara Falls in the City Hall courtyard!
These are great free attendance community events designed to foster activity downtown and provide some fun and excitement for residents and visitors alike!

MYAC Announces New Partners for Upcoming Youth Conference
The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is pleased to announce that they will be partnering with the District School Board of Niagara, Niagara Catholic District School Board, and Brock University to host a Youth Conference on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 at Brock University.
The goal is to have students from EVERY high school across the Niagara Region attend the conference. The conference will provide students with an opportunity to gain the tools necessary to be successful beyond the classroom and into post-secondary education and the workplace. Session topics will focus on important life skills to assist with transitions, pathways & planning for the future, and generally leading a balanced and healthy life.
MYAC is currently seeking session leaders, speakers, and sponsors as the planning for this exciting conference begins.

UPDATE: Open Air Burning By-Law
At the June 23, 2015 Niagara Falls City Council meeting, Council approved a process to allow for small contained fires for recreational purposes throughout the municipality with conditions. Most areas within the municipal boundaries are eligible to burn as long as the associated conditions are met.
Anyone wishing to have recreational fires within the City of Niagara Falls must acquire an annual Open Air Burning Permit from the Fire Prevention Office on Morrison Street. Additional details, and the permits, will be made available to residents after the associated by-law is ratified at the next council meeting on July 28, 2015.

Skateboard & Scooter Racks Now at MacBain Community Centre
The City of Niagara Falls has recently installed new skateboard and scooter storage racks (pictured above) at the MacBain Community Centre.
These racks are the first of their kind in the Niagara Region, and were installed to meet the needs of youth who frequent the Centre, and the Niagara Falls Skate park (located directly beside the Centre) with skateboards and scooters.
Until recently,the MacBain Centre, only had bicycle racks available. Users are now able to easily store and secure their skateboards and scooters with a padlock.

Community Art Project
Niagara Falls Museums invites you to come and put your mark on a GIANT Community Art Project this summer for FREE! The project is open to anyone and everyone of all skill levels - no painting experience is necessary! Materials will be provided for you to paint your own pieces of artwork in a style that reflects your interpretation of the Falls.
At the end of the project, all artwork will be combined to form a sculpture reminiscent of the great Niagara Falls pouring from a second story window into the Museum lobby.

Call for Musicians & Artists: Niagara Falls Night of Art
The City of Niagara Falls is calling out to musicians and artists interested in participating in the 4th Annual Niagara Falls Night of Art to be held on Thursday, September 24th, 2015 in Niagara Falls.
We are looking for musicians, artists, and performers of all types to submit their ideas for performances, art installations, hands-on activities, and more.
Artists interested in displaying and selling their work are encouraged to apply. Artists are asked to submit their proposals by email to bangle@niagarafalls.ca no later than Sunday, July 26th, 2015.

Congratulations Starter Company Graduates
The City of Niagara Falls and The Small Business Enterprise Centre would like to congratulate three young entrepreneurs on their completion of Starter Company this past month. Sara Law of Four Ewes Design, Noel Vijeyakumar of TVG and Matt Munday of Fallsvue Plumbing have completed business training, and mentorship through the program and are dedicated to seeing their businesses continue to grow.
Starter Company is an Ontario Government program that provides Ontario residents 18-29 and not attending school full time, with the resources and knowledge they need to start, grow or purchase their own business.
