 KERRY NICHOLLS
Programme Director, Mentor and Contemporary Technique

Kerry Nicholls has taught, choreographed, mentored and performed extensively for numerous dance companies and institutions throughout Europe and worldwide, and her experience spans a diverse dance practice spectrum.
Regularly teaching for Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, DV8 and Michael Clark companies to name a few, she is widely regarded as one of Britain's leading contemporary technique teachers; she receives many invitations to teach internationally at Ballet Preljocaj (France), Escuela de Danza (Cuba), the Beijing Dance Academy (China) and the Juilliard School (USA).
k|n|d|c (kerry nicholls dance company) was founded in 1999 as a vehicle to promote her own choreographic research. Since its inception, Kerry has created numerous works for the company as well as receiving independent commissions from organisations and companies within Europe, China and the USA, and has directed various projects at venues such as the National Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall.
She was appointed Co-Director of Creative Learning for Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in 2007, in addition to becoming the artistic advisor for the English National Ballet School in 2008.
Currently, Kerry is an external assessor for both the English National Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School and is a regular choreographic mentor for the Royal Opera House, English National Ballet, Dance UK, Rambert and Youth Dance England. She is also artistic advisor at The BRIT school and artistic director for National Youth Dance Wales 2015. Kerry is director and owner of Kerry Nicholls Dance and embodies the values and spirit of the brand which launched in autumn 2012.

CAT ALIP-DOUGLAS
Jivamukti Yoga

From the fashion floors of Condé Nast in New York to the wooden floors of Jivamukti Yoga in London, Cat has officially traded in her Manolo Blahniks for a more 'grounded' approach to life...in bare feet. Cat hails from New York City and has been calling London home since early 2004. She is privileged and blessed to have been involved with Jivamukti Yoga London since its inception in 2005 and continues to serve currently in the following roles at the studio: Advanced Certified Teacher, Co-Director alongside her husband Phil and mentor for the 800-hour certification/apprenticeship program. Jivamukti Yoga offers vigorously physical and intellectually stimulating yoga classes. Classes include Vinyasa (flowing asana sequences), hands-on adjustments, Pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, Sanskrit chanting, Yogic philosophical teachings and deep relaxation. Voice & Movement Workshop and Acting Workshop

Emma Bernard has devised and directed projects for companies including The Royal Opera House, Streetwise Opera, Thames Festival, and BBC Concert Orchestra. She specialises in devised and participatory work and particularly enjoys working on text and stage presence for dancers and singers.

CAROLINE BRIDGES
Showreel Filming

Caroline was a professional dancer, undertaking UK tours with companies such as Motionhouse and Stan Won’t Dance, before studying Cinematography at the National Film and Television School. Since then, she has directed and shot promos, short films, documentaries and dance films. Most recently she has shot a short with Louise Brealey from Sherlock, a documentary for BBC Arts for the Secret Knowledge series and a music video for Billy Boyd. She currently has a feature-length documentary in development called Big Mum with Hopscotch Films (Producer: John Archer).

HANNES LANGOLF

Mock Audition Workshop

Hannes Langolf left his home town in Germany in 2003 to study dance in the UK, France and Belgium. He then joined DV8 in 2007 to be part of the original cast of the critically acclaimed To Be Straight With You and Can We Talk About This? He plays the title character in JOHN and is DV8's Creative Associate for this production. Further, Hannes has also worked with Punchdrunk (UK), Wayne McGregor | Random Dance (UK), Thierry de Mey (B), Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre (IRL) and Akram Khan Company (UK), among others.

 
 
PARI NADERI

Following a distinguished career in contemporary dance Pari Naderi has established herself as one of the UK’s most sought after Dance, Theatre and Performance photographers.  She specialises in working within the sensitive environment of the rehearsal studio, gaining insight into the process of making and capturing revealing and intimate portraits of the creative process and the individuals within it. 
Pari works alongside many of the UK’s leading Dance and Theatre makers on a wide range of creative projects.  She is significantly involved in Dance as an artist, teacher, mentor and facilitator of dance and photographic projects and courses.  
In 2013 Pari led ’ Still Moving’ at Siobhan Davies Studios, a regular project supporting photographers in finding their own approach to photographing movement and in 2014 she facilitated ‘Connect and Grow’ a development of ‘Still Moving’ at Siobhan Davies Studios culminating with an exhibition at The Garden Museum.
 This summer Pari will be leading a Dance photography course at Morely College.

LLOYD NEWSON

Lloyd Newson studied psychology and social work at Melbourne University. Before forming DV8 Physical Theatre in 1986, he danced and/or choreographed with many companies including Modern Dance Ensemble, Impulse Dance Theatre/New Zealand Ballet Company and Extemporary Dance Theatre. His 19 works for DV8 have garnered more than 50 national and international awards.

Melanie Pappenheim has worked as a singer and performer with many leading theatre and dance companies including DV8 (Strange Fish), Jasmin Vardimon Company, Clod Ensemble, Protein Dance, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance and Siobhan Davies. She specialises in voice coaching for dancers and actors and regularly advises and assists individuals and companies in the creative and practical use of voice in their work.

Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy is Co-Founder/Artistic Director of Boy Blue Entertainment (Associate Artists at The Barbican Centre) and one of the top Choreographers and Artist in the UK Urban, Commercial & Hip Hop Theatre Scene.
His credits include London 2012 Olympic Opening ceremony: 'Thanks Tim' segment, Sochi 2014 Paralympic Closing Ceremony, Tour De France Opening Ceremony in London, Street Dance 3D Movie, AllStars Movie, So You Think You Can Dance 2011 Hip Hop pieces and Laurence Olivier Award Winning Production 'Pied Piper'. He has choreographed for Artists such as Plan B, Rita Ora, Stooshe, Alexandra Burke and Dizzee Rascal. Other credits include Passion Of Girl’s Aloud with Cheryl Cole, Judge of CBBC’s Alesha’s Street Dance Stars and most recently Hip Hop Judge of BBC Young Dancer’s Grand Final. 
 As well as a Choreographer, Kenrick has danced for various Artists such as Fergie of 'Black Eyed Peas', Victoria Beckham, Duffy, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, The Saturdays, Simon Webb from ‘Blue’, Leona Lewis, Misteeq, Sugababes, George Michael and Ladies First.

 
MAGGIE SEMPLE, OBE, FCGI
Leadership Development Seminar

Maggie is known as a successful business woman and entrepreneur. She is described as gently formidable - a voice of reason. She is a thought-leader on diversity, inclusion & ethics with a particular emphasis on diversity of thought, leadership development and governance. She is regularly asked to chair conferences, facilitate private meetings and negotiate difficult deals.
Maggie established The Experience Corps Ltd (TEC), a global consultancy firm in 2001. TEC provides leadership programmes and coaching to companies on cultural change, organisational effectiveness, board development, women’s development and exploration of new markets. TEC has a team of global associates and has clients in UK Government and the financial, technological, science and pharmaceutical sectors. Maggie also works with family businesses in the Middle East.
Originally an academic, Maggie began advising governments in the 1990s. She was a member of several high profile UK Government and European Union task groups and represented the UK in Greece and Hong Kong. From 2001-2008 Maggie was a Civil Service Commissioner responsible for upholding the values of appointment on merit.
As Director of the Learning Experience at the Millennium Dome, London, Maggie was responsible for raising funds, devising and delivering the learning programme for 1.2 million people and the commissioning and decommissioning of buildings on site. Maggie was also a media spokesperson. Maggie has extensive experience of managing multi-million pound projects and working with large teams across organisations.
Maggie currently serves as a Board Non-Executive Director of the Criminal Cases Review Commission where she Chairs the Audit & Risk Committee, Trustee of the British Library, South Bank Arts Centre, Brit School and the City & Guilds Institute.
Maggie is a Fellow of the City & Guilds Institute, one of 500 Fellowships awarded since 1878. Maggie is cited in the World’s Who Who; she was awarded an OBE in 2000.

TORY JESTYN TROTTER
Classical Ballet Technique

Victoria Jestyn Trotter known as Tory, trained in Australia and performed with Australian Ballet and Australian Dance Theatre before joining Nederlands Dans Theater under the direction of Jiri Kylian. She has also worked with Glen Tetley, Christopher Bruce, Ohad Naharin, Nacho Duato and William Forsythe.
 As a teacher of Contemporary Ballet for over 20 years Tory has guest taught for many UK dance companies and schools. For the past 13 years she has taught open professional class at Pineapple Dance Studios.
More recently Tory has begun teaching people with Parkinson's.

 
 
DAVID WALTERS
Head Musician and collaborator with Kerry Nicholls Dance

After completing a B.A. in Music (composition) at Middlesex University in 1982, David has composed, performed and lectured for U.K. ballet & contemporary dance institutions for over twenty five years, including London Contemporary Dance School, Central School of Ballet, Laban, Elmhurst, Urdang, English National Ballet School, Arts Educational and the Royal Ballet School.
He has played company class for Random Dance, Akram Khan Company, DV8, Cunningham Company with Merce Cunningham, Shobana Jeyasingh Company, The Featherstoneaughs, Rambert Dance Company, Richard Alston Dance Company and New Adventures, also played for audition classes for P.A.R.T.S, George Piper Dances (BalletBoyz), Dora Frankel Dance and National Dance Company Wales.
Compositional collaborations have included those with long standing collaborator Kerry Nicholls, also Mavin Khoo, Tamara McLorg, Leanne King, Luca Silvestrini, Noi Tolmer, Antonia Grove, Dance United and Ballet de Zaragoza with commissions performed in Spain, Poland and Lithuania, as well as the U.K.
Current International projects have included Malta (Mavin Khoo) and Germany (Resi-Dance).
A soundtrack for Peter Kovacs’  short film “Blank” was completed in the summer of 2014.  
From January 2015, currently devising a score for The Alchemy Project with Darren Ellis, Carly Annable-Coop and Ellen Steinmuller.
