Governor's Office of Student Achievement

July 2015 Monthly Update

Connections for Classrooms Grant Opportunities

On July 15, 2015, the Governor's Office of Student Achievement released the Round 3 application for the Connections for Classrooms Grant Program. This round will provide approximately $8.5 million in grants to Georgia local education agencies (LEAs) to support school- and classroom-level network infrastructure. The grants will cover all or a portion of the local matching portion for LEAs that apply for federal network infrastructure funds through the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) E-rate Program.

The application includes a description of network infrastructure plans, digital learning implementation, alignment with state and district technology plans, and professional learning plans. In particular, applicants must describe how the increased connectivity will enable them to implement digital learning, defined as "learning facilitated by technology that gives students some element of control over time, place, path and/or pace," to improve student outcomes. Independent reviewers will score applications based upon the rubric published in the program guidelines.
