People Are Talking:  Your First Time

No one ever forgets their first time. And yes, we are talking about cruising. Our members have been reminiscing about their first cruises, and we've shared some of the best below:

The first "cruise" I recall well was in 1949 when my mother took me and my brother to Seattle from Cordova, Alaska in order to visit relatives that summer. Our voyage was on the SS Aleutian, an Alaska Steamship Company vessel. Now, one might say that wasn't really a cruise, mere transportation, but back in those days Alaska Steam provided the only viable means for tourists to visit Alaska. - Kennicott

For me it was the Mardi Gras.  This was the first cruise ship of Carnival for the mass market.  We took our kids on it and it was back in the 80's. - GloMarrone

Our first cruise was aboard Carnival's Jubilee back in 1996 and we were instantly addicted to cruising! As of today we've been on 64 cruises and have the next 4 planned! - WeCruiseToo

Ship Tip: Carnival Fascination

"Purchase a (waterproof) camera! We loved capturing photos of our time onboard, as well as our excursions. When we went swimming with the dolphins and kayaking, we were able to take our camera in the water with us, giving us amazing photos and video! Also, bring an air freshener for your cabin!" - adriannawilshir
