Marion Pool will be open regular hours up to August 23. Special hours are as follows once school begins:

August 24--28: Lap Swim 11:00a.m.-12:30p.m.
                        Open Swim 4:00-7:00p.m.
Saturday-Sunday
August 29--30  Lap Swim 11:00a.m.-12:15p.m.
                        Open Swim 12:30-6:00p.m.

PARKS & RECREATION NEWS

Tall Grass & Weeds: It is a violation of city code to have plants, grass, or weeds growing uncultivated and out of control at a height of 8 inches or more. Please call the office at 319-447-3580 to report.

Urban Forestry/Tree Maintenance: The Urban Forestry division of the Parks and Recreation Department oversees the maintenance and care of right-of-way trees. Questions or concerns can be directed to 319-447-3580.
Thomas Park & Gill Park: open daily 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 
Willowood Park: open during regular pool hours, regular pool admission fees apply to use the splash pad within the confines of the pool.

Fitness Trail: The Boyson Trail segment that runs through Hanna Park is getting a makeover this summer. Here's a look at some of the new fitness equipment being installed, thanks to the generosity of the Marion Metro Kiwanis.

FALL INTO FITNESS

Join the Marion Parks & Recreation Department and Marion Blue Zones Project® for this FREE fitness series held outdoor at the Klopfenstein Amphitheater for the Performing Arts at Lowe Park. Each week, for 5 weeks, a different fitness routine will be demonstrated. Sample such classes as: Tai Chi, Pilates, Zumba, and more. Find a routine or class that suits your needs and get more active today! No need to register or RSVP, just show up and be ready to work up a sweat at 6:00pm.
Fee: FREE
Time: 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Dates: Tuesdays in September at Lowe Park
Schedule of Classes: Complete class schedule will be released second week in August.

FLAG FOOTBALL COACHES NEEDED! We are still in need of volunteer coaches for the PeeWee Flag Football (K-1st) program and the 2nd-5th Grade Flag Football program.  If you are interested and have already registered your child, you can email Tony Ireland, Recreation Supervisor, at tireland@cityofmarion.org.  If you haven’t registered your child yet, when you do so, please indicate on your child’s registration form that you are interested in coaching.
