After every one on earth was dead and waiting to enter Heaven, God appeared and said, "I want the men to make two lines: One line for the men who were true heads of their household, and the other line for the men who were dominated by their women. I want all the women to report to St. Peter."
 
Soon the women were gone, and there were two lines of men. The line of men who were dominated by their wives was 100 miles long, and in the line of men who truly were heads of their household, there was only one man.
 
God said to the long line, "You men should be ashamed of yourselves; I created you to be head of your household! You have been disobedient and have not fulfilled your purpose! Of all of you, only one has obeyed. Learn from him."
 
God turned to the one man, "How did you manage to be the only one in this line?"
 
The man replied, "My wife told me to stand here."

Combine in a shot glass.

Skinny Dipper
1 oz. Malibu Red
3 oz. Malibu Peach Sparkler
1 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. orange juice
Harpoon Harry's
Punta Gorda, FL


Tito's Sunshine
1 oz. Tito's Handmade Vodka
½ oz. Chambord
3 oz. sweet & sour mix
Juice of one lemon wedge
Dash grenadine
Combine all ingredients in cocktail glass over ice. Stir and garnish with a lemon wheel.

autochthonous grape. 
Color:  Straw yellow, pale green reflections.
Bouquet:  Fruity fresh, delicate and balanced
Taste:  Allegro, dry and lively white foam: fine and persistent bubbles.
Pairing:  At any time, on its own as A TOAST FOR CELEBRATION,with hors d'oeuvres, with fish dishes, risottos, fresh cheeses.

Bartender of the Month

KEVIN DIEDRICH
Bar Manager, BDK Restaurant & Bar, San Francisco, CA
 
Growing up in Northern Virginia, Diedrich first began his hospitality career in 2002 as bartender at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. before assuming the role as mixologist for the hotel group’s San Francisco property in 2005. Inspired by the Bay Area’s cocktail community, Diedrich later went on to work at local restaurants and bars including Michael Mina’s Clock Bar, as well as CASK and Bourbon & Branch.

In 2009, Diedrich returned to Washington D.C. to join the opening team of Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak as lead bartender, helping create and execute the restaurant’s bar program. Later that same year, Diedrich relocated to New York City spending time behind the bars of PDT and Clover Club.
 
Realizing that he missed San Francisco’s local cocktail scene, Diedrich returned to the Bay Area in 2010 to open The Burritt Room, a concept he created with Matthew Meidinger. He was named one of San Francisco Chronicle’s “Bar Stars” in 2011, and that same year joined the Kimpton team working as bar manager for Jasper’s Corner Tap & Kitchen.
 
Earlier this year, Diedrich was approached with the opportunity to join the opening team of BDK Restaurant & Bar, a stylish American tavern from the Kimpton team, located at the Hotel Monaco in San Francisco. Overseeing BDK’s bar program, Diedrich continues to contribute to the city’s thriving bar scene with a robust menu of cocktails listed by their predominant flavor profile, as well as spirits and beers from the region.
