A message from the Global Philadelphia Association                                                          August 2015
Dear Members, Partners and Friends

What an exhilarating time it is! The GlobalPhilly 2015 International Exposition is fast approaching – less than 47 days and counting down…

Global Philadelphia Association members form an important and diverse coalition with their shared international interests and work. We are thrilled to showcase and raise awareness of their distinct work and creative programming here and overseas!
The Expo is shaping up to be a fantastic line-up of diverse events, with more coming in every day - over 60 days packed with all things international, here in the Greater Philly region as well as abroad, Sept. 15 – Nov. 15th – Arts & Culture, Commerce, Heritage, Education, Advocacy, Sports, Cuisine, and, our new theme - Science & Technology!

Philadelphia has a very strong and growing science and technology scene, with a lot of young talent coming and staying in the region and driving these industries. During GlobalPhilly 2015, a number of our member organizations will feature their regional and global work – from the Wagner Free Institute of Science (which provided free science education in the 19th Century) to University of the Sciences and PodCampPhilly’s Content Camp Unconference (about digital and non-digital content)
– from Mid-Atlantic//Eurasia/ Russia Business Council’s Eurasian – American Technology Entrepreneurship Conference to CHOP’s
collaborative Italian-American Pediatric Conference with Meyer’s Children Hospital in Florence and University City Sciences Center's Innovators Walk of Fame. Come see the wide array of Science & Tech our global region offers!

Read on to get a taste of some of the upcoming festive and informative Expo events.

Finally, we are deeply grateful for the support of our sponsors and media partners!  They make it possible for GPA to offer this high profile opportunity to showcase our members’ amazing programs, activities and celebrations – you all are essential to what makes our city so extraordinary!

Best,

Otherwise known as the Modern Day Renaissance City, Philadelphia is recognized for its wide array and deep appreciation of the arts. Infused with a broad diversity of cultures present throughout the entire city, there is no doubt that  Arts & Culture is one of the most popular categories in our GlobalPhilly 2015 Expo.

Officials say Philly likely to be named
USA's first World Heritage City

Philadelphia Inquirer:
Philadelphia is likely to become the first U.S. city designated a World Heritage City, an elite title given to about 250 municipalities worldwide, officials in Mayor Nutter's administration said Thursday.

A Philadelphia delegation, including Nutter, advocated for the city's bid while on a trip to Puebla, Mexico, this week.
The designation from the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), which Philadelphia has been seeking for several years, has the potential to enhance the city's status on the world stage and boost the city as an international tourism site and business hub.

A note from the: Executive Director

These are exciting times for Philadelphia and in seven weeks GlobalPhilly 2015 will be here. We are pleased to showcase the global city that is Philadelphia. We are so thankful to our global members and audiences who have made this possible.

Our usual publication, The Insider will be on hold while we communicate with our audience of Global Philadelphians through the GP15 Gazette (until after November 15th when our Global Expo ends).
There has never been a better time to be global in Philadelphia; to be a part of the coalition of diverse communities that is Global Philadelphia. I encourage you to join in the fun, the exchange and the present. Join us, become a member of the Global Philadelphia Association and see you in the Fall!
