Funder: Melinda Gray Ardia Environmental Foundation Deadline: 9/13/2015 Grant Title: Environmental Curricula Grants Funding Description: Supports educators in developing and implementing holistic environmental curricula that integrate field activities and classroom teaching and incorporate basic ecological principles and problem solving. The three goals are to: (1) empower and encourage students to become involved in solving environmental and social problems; (2) promote thoughtful and appropriate analysis and understanding of the natural world; and (3) train students as informed decision makers through the emphasis and application of basic ecological principles. Funder: Spencer Foundation Deadlines: November 3, 2015 Grant Title: The New Civics Description: Supports research that deepens understanding of educational and other influences on civic action, that attends to social inequalities in civic education and civic action, and that has the potential to shape future research and practice in these fields. Eligible: Principal investigators must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field, or appropriate experience in an education research-related profession. Funder: National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Deadline: November 6, 2015 Grant Title: Pre-K-6 Classroom Research Grants Description: The purpose of this grant is to support and encourage classroom-based research in pre-college math education in collaboration with college or university math educators. Eligible: The applicant must be either a college or university math educator who is a Full Individual or E-Member of NCTM; or a teacher (a) with a Full Individual or E-Member of NCTM or (b) who teaches at a school having a current NCTM Pre-K-8 school membership.  Membership must be established by October 15, 2015. Funder: Finish Line Youth Foundation Deadline: 9/30/2015 Grant Title: Youth Athletic Programs; and (2) Youth Camps Description: The foundation focuses on improving the lives of youth through physical activity. Wild Ones: Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program
The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program gives small monetary grants to schools, nature centers, or other non-profit educational organizations for the purpose of establishing outdoor learning centers. Funds will be provided only for the purchase of native plants and seed. Maximum award: $500. Eligibility: schools, nature centers, and other non-profit places of learning, including houses of worship. Deadline: October 15, 2015.

Best Buy Foundation: Youth Technology Program
Best Buy seeks nonprofit partners to create hands-on learning opportunities for underserved teens to engage them in experimenting and interacting with the latest technologies to build 21st-century skills. The overall goal is to provide youth with access to new technologies and help them become interested and fluent in digital learning while developing skills to help better prepare them for future education and career success. Programs can encompass audio production (including music mixing & recording); coding/3D printing; computer Maintenance and Repair; digital photography/graphic design; filmmaking & videography; Maker Faires/hack-a-thons; mobile & game app development; programming; robotics; and web site design. Maximum award:$200,000. Eligibility: 501c3 out-of-school programs with a fundamental commitment to youth ages 13-18, operating within 25 miles of a Best Buy store or other Best Buy center of operations. Deadline: November 1, 2015.

Awards for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education
The Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge Leavey Awards for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education seeks to honor outstanding educators who excite a commitment in their students to the free enterprise system and unleash the entrepreneurial skills of their students at the elementary, junior high school, high school and college level. Maximum award: $15,000. Eligibility:teachers at K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. Deadline: November 1, 2015.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Improving Students' Understanding of Geometry Grants
Purpose: Activities that will enable students to better appreciate and understand some aspect of geometry that is consistent with the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics of NCTM. The project should include applications of geometry to, for example, art, literature, music, architecture, nature, or some other relevant area and may integrate the use of technology into the teaching of geometry. Proposals must address the following: geometry content, the appropriateness of the application, the link between the Geometry Standard and the project's activities, and the anticipated impact on students' learning. Maximum award:$4,000. Eligibility: teachers preK-8 who are NCTM members as of October 14, 2015 or teach at a school with a preK-8 NCTM school membership as of October 14, 2015. Deadline: November 06, 2015.

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ Emerging Teacher-Leaders Grants
Purpose: To increase the breadth and depth of the mathematics content knowledge of pre-K–5 school teachers who have a demonstrated commitment to mathematics teaching and learning. Grantees will be expected to provide ongoing professional development to teachers within the school or district to strengthen their mathematical understanding and instructional practices.Maximum award: $6,000. Eligibility: Must be a current NCTM member (on or before October 15, 2015), a classroom (elementary school) teacher with at least three years of experience, and teach mathematics as a regular responsibility. In addition, the applicant must have the support of the school principal in becoming a mathematics teacher-leader within his or her school district. Deadline: November 6, 2015.

Funder: National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Deadline:11/6/2015 Grant Title: Using Music to Teach Math Description: Proposals must address the combining of mathematics and music, planning for improving students' learning of mathematics, and/or the anticipated impact on students’ achievement. Eligible: Must be a current full, individual,- or e-member of NCTM or teach in a school with a current NCTM pre-K–8 school membership and currently teach mathematics or collaborate with teachers of mathematics in grades pre-K–2. Awards: $3000 Link: http://tinyurl.com/og47fj9



National Science Teachers Association and Shell Oil Company: Shell Science Teaching Award
Recognizes an outstanding K-12 classroom teacher who has had a positive impact on his or her students, school, and community through exemplary classroom science teaching. Maximum award: $10,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to NSTA’s national conference. Two finalists will also receive all-expense-paid trips to the conference. Eligibility: All public and private schoolteachers whose responsibilities include teaching science with at least eight years of experience, within the United States, a U.S. territory, Department of Defense school, or in Canada. Deadline: November 18, 2015.

Vernier/NSTA: Technology Awards
Promotes the innovative use of data-collection technology using a computer, graphing calculator, or other handheld device in the science classroom. Maximum award: $1,000 in cash for the teacher, $3,000 in Vernier Products, and up to $1,500 toward expenses to attend the annual NSTA National Convention. Eligibility: Current teachers of science in grades K-College. Deadline: November 30, 2015.

Wish You Well Foundation: Grants for Literacy
Purpose: To foster and promote the development and expansion of new and existing literacy and educational programs. Maximum award: $10,000. Eligibility: 501c3 nonprofits. Deadline: Rolling.

Adobe: ConnectED software grants
As part of the White House's ConnectEd initiative, Adobe is offering creative tools and teacher professional development to schools across the United States. Maximum award: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Presenter, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Echosign, and a range of teacher training resources.Eligibility: public, state-operated, county-operated school, or BIA schools at the elementary or secondary school level that receive Title I funds. Deadline: Rolling.

Lockheed Martin: Grants for Education
Lockheed Martin provides grants for K-16 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education. This includes Lockheed Martin's K-12 STEM Education Initiative, Engineers in the Classroom, as well as STEM-focused curricular and extracurricular programs that provide employee engagement opportunities in a community in which Lockheed Martin has employees or business interests. Maximum award: varies. Eligibility: 501c3 nonprofits that deliver standards-based STEM education to students in K-16. Deadline: Rolling.

Fund for Teachers: Grants
The Fund for Teachers provides funds for direct grants to teachers to support summer learning opportunities of their own design. Maximum award: $5,000. Eligibility: Teachers who work with students in grades pre-K-12, with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, full-time, spending at least 50 percent of the time in the classroom at the time grants are approved and made. Deadline: varies by state.

Project Produce
The Chef Ann Foundation has teamed up with Skoop, a superfoods company committed to bringing the health benefits of superfoods to every American. Together we have launched Project Produce. Grants help expand students’ palates, and encourage increased consumption of and exposure to fresh produce through engagement in lunchroom education activities that encourage students to taste new vegetables and fruits offered either in a dish, cooked, or raw. The goal is to provide funds to support the food cost of these activities which are designed to touch every child. Offering these events to all kids whether they bring or buy lunch requires additional funds. Grants can help you fill that gap. Maximum award: $2,500. Eligibility: Any district or independent school participating in the National School Lunch Program. Deadline: Rolling.

BJ’s Adopt-A-School Program
The program’s mission: giving “adopted” schools support they can use to enhance existing programs and curriculum objectives. Here’s how it works: Public school teachers from across America post project requests at DonorsChoose.org for materials they need (like books, art supplies, software). Donors search the site and give to the project that inspires them most. When a project reaches its funding goal, the materials are shipped to the school, and donors receive photos of the project and a letter from the teacher. Schools participating in BJ’s Adopt-A-School Giving Program receive a one-time donation to use toward discretionary programs (like field trips, special events, reading enhancement programs), and a complimentary BJ’s Business Membership. Maximum award: varies by project. Eligibility: U.S. public elementary schools. Deadline: Rolling.

Funder: National Science Foundation Deadline: 11/4/2015 Grant Title: Advancing Informal STEM Learning Funding Goals: 1) to advance new approaches to, and evidence based understanding of, the design and development of STEM learning opportunities for the public in informal environments; 2) to provide multiple pathways for broadening access to and engagement in STEM learning experiences; 3) to advance innovative research on and assessment of STEM learning in informal environments. Eligible: Unrestricted Awards: Collaborative Planning projects: up to $150,000 (1 year); Exploratory Pathways projects: up to $300,000 (2 years); Research in Service to Practice projects: $300,000 to $2 million (2 – 5 five years); Innovations in Development projects: $500,000 to $3 million (2 – 5 years); Broad Implementation projects: $500,000 to $3, million (2 – 5 years); Conference projects up to $250,000 (2 years); and one Informal STEM Learning Resource Center award up to $5 million over 5 years. Funder: US Education Department Deadline: 8/10/2015  Grant Title: Transition Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities into Higher Education Description: The program has three competitive preferences: 1) a sustained and meaningful partnership in order to serve students with intellectual disabilities (e.g. a vocational rehabilitation agency); 2) housing that integrates students with intellectual disabilities; and 3) involves undergraduate or graduate students who are studying special education, general education, vocational rehabilitation and assistive technology in the model program.  Eligible: Public and private colleges and universities Awards: Average: $388,000 Link: http://tinyurl.com/op73bbg

Funder: National Science Foundation Deadline: 11/3/2015 Grant Title: Improving Undergraduate STEM Education Funding Focus: Helping students in STEM disciplines and faculty in incorporating results from educational research into classroom practice. Funder: National Science Foundation Deadline: November 13, 2015Grant Title: EarthScope Description: An earth science program to explore the four-dimensional structure of the North American continent. Provides a framework for broad, integrated studies across the earth sciences, including research on fault properties and the earthquake process. In addition, EarthScope offers a centralized forum for earth science education at all levels and an excellent opportunity to develop cyberinfrastructure to integrate, distribute, and analyze diverse data sets. Funder: Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Deadline: 9/17/2015 Grant Title: Future of Nursing Scholarships Description: The goal is to develop the next generation of PhD-prepared nurse leaders who are committed to long-term careers that advance science and discovery, strengthen nursing education, and bring transformational change to nursing and health care. Eligible: Schools in the US with research-focused PhD programs. Scholars who are selected must be US citizens or permanent residents. Awards: The 2016 cohort will include up to 75 Scholars. Each scholar will receive $75,000 to be used over 3 years. This award must be matched by $50,000 cash or in-kind support from the school. Link: http://tinyurl.com/ofckthc

Funder: National Science Foundation Deadline: 9/22/2015 Grant Title: Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Funding Description: The program addresses the need for a high quality STEM workforce in areas of national priorities. The program seeks to increase the success of low-income academically talented students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degrees in STEM fields. The program provides awards to public and private colleges and universities to fund scholarships and to enhance curricular and co-curricular activities that support recruitment, retention, student success and graduation in STEM fields. Funder: National Science Foundation Deadline: 9/25/2015 Grant Title: CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service Description: The program focuses on improving cybersecurity education and workforce development. The funding may be used for scholarships or for curriculum development. Scholars must agree to work in a governmental cybersecurity position in exchange for the award.
