Recently, Dr. Forrest M. Bird died at the age of 94. We had the honor of interviewing the world renowned aviator, inventor and biomedical engineer when he was 90.

Dr. Byrd was awarded two Presidential Medals of Honor, two Lifetime Scientific Achievement awards, membership in the National Inventors Hall of Fame and countless other honors. Among his many contributions, Dr. Bird developed what today is called “Intensive Care Transport” (modern day Medivac) during the Vietnam war.
