Resister for the Free Workshop

Applications are open for the Class of 2016 Fran Abrams Creative Writing Award!
The Fran Abrams Creative Writing Award assists one Montgomery County high school senior, in the class of 2016, in pursuing the study of and/or career in creative writing with a $1,000 award. 
Deadline: Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:59 p.m.

Applications are open for the Class of 2016 Ida F. Haimovicz Award for Visual Arts!
This award is given to one high school senior graduating in the class of 2016 who is enrolled in a public or non-public high school in Montgomery County to benefit his/her pursuit of a visual arts career with a $3,000 award.

Maryland Humanities Council - Major Grants (Awards up to $10,000)
MHC provides grants to nonprofit organizations that use the humanities (literature, philosophy, history, etc.) to engage Marylanders. Grant categories and criteria encourage free, public programming in many forms including discussions, exhibits, lectures, living history, and seminars using the humanities as the central tools to explore and understand the complexity of an issue. Grants are awarded with the understanding that participants will be given the opportunity to discuss critical issues affecting their communities.

Freeman Foundation is proud to announce the opening of grant opportunities for nonprofit organizations located in Montgomery County, MD. Financial support is available through the FACES (Freeman Assists Communities with Extra Support) Grants Program, which targets smaller organizations that are often overlooked by funders.The grant cycle will open on August 24th.

Call for Entries: "N/ever the Same: The 2015 Prince George’s County Juried Exhibition
Works included in the exhibition focus on innovation (new materials and techniques or new twists on traditional styles), process, and transformation. We are asking artists to submit works that embody the constant spirit of innovation and reinvention. The show is open to work in 2-D, 3-D, video, sound, installation, and performance art.

Call for Artists - Small Wonders Exhibition at the Maryland Federation of Art
The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites all artists residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter its 13th annual Small Wonders competition. Original 2-D and 3-D artwork meeting size restrictions and following entry guidelines, will be considered.

Call for Theater Professionals - Baltimore's Bring the Noise Project
Bring The Noise Network is seeking talented Theater professionals to teach in several Baltimore City Public Schools. Ideal candidates will have at least one year teaching experience and two years minimum experience working as a theater professional.

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts: Call for Artists
Maryland Hall invites artists and artist groups to apply throughout the year to exhibit in our galleries and exhibit spaces as well as to apply for the Artist-in-Residence program as studios are available.


Open Call for Proposals - Hillyer Art Space
We are currently accepting proposals for our June 2016 – May 2017 season. Hillyer presents monthly exhibitions and each accepted artist is given a room in our three room gallery space to present their work.
Deadline: September 27, 2015
Entry Fee: $35 (non-refundable)


Artist Studio Space in Bethesda Available 

  • Studio is 215 sq. feet.
  • Rent is $405 per month, inclusive of all utilities.
  • Artist has 24/7 access to Studio B and their personal studio space.
  • Artist may sell artwork and there is no commission taken on artist sales.
  • Artists are required to be in the space during retail hours of Wed. - Sat., 12-6 pm and during the monthly Bethesda Art Walk.
This studio space will be available in October, 2015; please apply by Sept. 15, 2015
