I, The Burden - "Reaktsiya"
It's been a busy few months for Darwin Prog Rock band I, The Burden. They've been on a massive tour through QLD, released a very polished EP "Reaktsiya" and in September they'll be supporting The Getaway Plan and Northlane! The title track from the EP has an epic build, excellent vocals and the lyrics and musicianship are mature, controlled and dynamic.

Elli Belle - "Invincible"
Before heading on a special collaborative and experimental music tour through Europe, Darwin darling Elli Belle has released a sneak peak of her new work. This track "Invincible" was recorded and co-produced by band member Paul Brandis and is a beautiful tribute to the power of music and those invincible vocals! Elli's last gig in Darwin is August 15 for Darwin Festival.

Central Desert Band - "Wati Kutju"
It's not FRESH MiNT without some foot-stomping Desert Reggae (easily the most active musical genre in the NT). This month it's "Wati Kutju" from Central Desert Band's new album "Yurra". The album was launched in July through CAAMA Music's 'Therrka' label and has songs about home, community and culture. It's a contagious blend of rock, reggae and desert music.

Black Bird - "Not Givin Up"
Self reflective, autobiographical and honest. That's what Black Bird delivers with his track "Not Givin Up". Songwriter and producer Atom Abddalla's (Black Bird) music career evolved around the passing of his father, using songs to express his mind and soul. There's a generous truth in "Not Givin Up" and a relatable story about growing up, learning who you are and owning it.

Shapeshifta - "Hypnotised"
"Hypnotised" is the first track from Darwin band Shapeshifta's debut EP. The metal band are the epitome of youthful exuberance and DIY enthusiasm. The EP was recorded and produced by the band's vocalist/guitarist, Manolis Kamitsis, at home! Oh and did we mention he's still in high school. We're expecting big things from these guys after their epic set at TerrorFest 2015.
