Scott Tuma is a luminary of the Chicago musical landscape from his days as guitarist in pioneering Chicago alt-country band Souled American to his work in the Boxhead Ensemble and Good Stuff House (with Matt Christensen and Mike Weis of Zelienople) and his collaborations with Jim White (Dirty Three, Xylouris White), Jim Becker (Califone), Jason Stein, Ben Boye, and Jaime Fennelly (Mind Over Mirrors).  Since 2001 he has released an incredible run of albums under his own name, all performed, recorded, and mixed by Tuma from his home in Chicago.  "Made By Nature" is a phrase Tuma uses to describe his way of life as he is constantly playing and recording, dependent upon the rhythms and distractions of home and capturing the environment around him.  Tuma has accumulated a collection of recordings that date back to the mid-90's and he is constantly sifting through these recordings to remember things that might otherwise be forgotten.

Eyrie was recorded over the past year and features Tuma's close friend Matthew De Gennaro (Soft Abuse) on guitar for the song "F. March".  Tuma and DeGennaro have played together often over the past decade, but this is the first time they appear together on record.

Eyrie will be followed by No Greener Grass, an epic double album to be released on Immune later this year.

"the double-LP Ending/Returning is split between Steven R. Smith and Ulaan Khol as he interprets the same set of songs through those respective lenses. As himself, Smith plays "Last Town on Earth" like the score to a minimalist existential western, with sparse acoustic plucks surrounded by poignant accents. As Ulaan Khol, he bombs the tune with nuclear-waste guitar, turning something desolate into something genuinely harrowing. At the close of that second version, things calm a bit, and the aftershock echoes the first version perfectly." - Pitchfork

Ending/Returning was mastered by Patrick Klem and cut to vinyl by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering.  The double LP is pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and packaged in a lavish gatefold jacket.  The front and back panels of the jacket are printed in silver metallic ink on a white background while the inside gatefold is a beautiful full color aerial photograph of lava fields from world-renowned German photographer Bernhard Edmaier.
