Veterans Connect With Heroes' Voices

Heroes' Voices is pleased to announce that we are providing more music and poetry workshops to more veterans than ever before. We recently completed our fourth workshop in a series at the VA in Menlo Park, which proved again to be a remarkable journey for the veterans who participated.

We have expanded our programming considerably this year with Vets Singing with Vets and Guitar Corps workshops at the VA Clinic in San Bruno, CA and Vets Singing with Vets at Ft. Miley’s San Francisco Veteran’s Hospital. Bluegrass Jams continue every month at the Livermore VA Hospital and we now lead a Vets Singing with Vets group every Thursday at the CAL-VET home in Yountville.

We also continue to support veterans who write and share their own poetry. We are committed to making sure these poets' voices are heard and have posted a number of these extraordinary poems on our website. We will also publish selected poems in an upcoming Heroes’ Voices booklet.

Research Project

This fall, Heroes' Voices will launch a pilot research program in cooperation with the Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR). This important new study led by psychologist and researcher Dr. Ben Graham will take place at the Menlo Park VA and will observe and follow three groups of veterans participating in Guitar Corps workshops. The study will reveal more about the immediate and long-term effects on the veterans’ health and wellbeing and will aid in future, longer term, research project design.
