Community input is an important part of the strategic planning process, and will ensure that the priorities set for the short and long term reflect a Collingwood that we are all excited to be a part of.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the questionnaire, or share it with friends, family, and neighbours. We’re thrilled to share that we received more than 700 responses! Code of Conduct - We need your input!

Collingwood Council  is considering amendments to the Code of Conduct and is requesting public input and feedback.

A Code of Conduct reinforces the Town of Collingwood's Accountability and Transparency Policy and other relevant legislation which all Members of Council, Local Boards and Advisory Committees must abide by.

The Code of Conduct serves to enhance public trust and improve the quality of public administration and governance by encouraging high standards of conduct on the part of all government officials, and ensuring that those Members share a common standard of integrity through adherence to its principles.

Members of the public are invited to provide their input on the proposed Code of Conduct before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14th, 2015 , or are welcome to attend and address the Corporate Services Standing Committee on Monday, August 10th at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Town Hall.  Comments can be emailed to clerk@collingwood.ca or submitted to Clerk Services, 97 Hurontario Street, P.O. Box 157 Collingwood, ON L9Y3Z5

The Staff Report C2015-15-C and Code of Conduct can be viewed at: http://www.collingwood.ca/files/2015-07-20_CouncilAgendaPkg.pdf or at Clerk Services.

Festival Wrap Up

Collingwood Elvis Festival
The 21st annual Collingwood Elvis Festival welcomed visitors to our community for great music and entertainment, and this year, the focus was on first time visitors. First timers were invited to a special welcome session Thursday evening, and buttons proclaiming "I'm a first timer, treat me nice!" could be seen throughout the weekend.

Norm Ackland Jr. will be our representative heading to Memphis to compete in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. Norm’s father is a long-time tribute artist, and his eight-year-old son also competed at our Festival.

Collingwood Live & Original Music Series
Gina Horswood has been selected as the winner of the first Collingwood Live & Original Music Series. Gina, of Queensland, Australia (by way of Toronto) will take home $3,000 in prize money, and the honour of being the first winner of Collingwood Live & Original.

The Live & Original Music Series was a chance for music fans to get to know artists at the start of their careers, and to be able to say ‘I saw them at the start.’

Sidelaunch Days Festival
Sidelaunch Days, Collingwood's first harbour festival, proved to be a tremendous success. Fusing Collingwood's shipbuilding past with its current activities, arts and culture, Sidelaunch Days was a unique way to get people using the harbour and the downtown area.

Events included Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) races, the annual Collingwood Arts & Music Festival, the AT SEA art projection on the grain elevators, a regatta, and Collingwood Kitefest.

Be a Responsible Pet Owner! High Five Tips ...
  1. All cats and dogs are required to have current rabies vaccination. Its Provincial law!

  2. All dogs and cats must be leashed or contained on your own property. This protects them and others. You can be fined up to $200 if you let your pets roam off your property.

  3. Pet owners are responsible for removing excrement left by their pets. If you don’t want to step in it why would others want to? ($200 Set Fine)

  4. Never leave your pet in a hot car and always ensure your pet has access to water and shade on hotter days. Common sense!

  5. Ensure your dog(s) is/are registered with the Town. There are discounts for having your pet spayed/neutered and/or microchipped.
