Permaculture SA - News and Events

Hi Permies,

First a word to the 30 or so Permaculture SA members who I have added to this list, and are seeing one of these newsletters for the first time.  The plan had been to keep two separate email series going out, an official members notification one and this broader one that is open to everyone.  Didn't have time for that, so this newsletter is the only reliable way we have of keeping you up to date, so I have made sure that everyone is on the list.  If however, you prefer not to get these emails, please use the link below to unsubscribe yourself and accept my apologies.

OK, on with the show.

Permaculture SA - Annual General Meeting

The 2014 AGM at Glandore, also with Craig Wilkins speaking!

Our AGM will be held at the Joinery, 111 Franklin Street Adelaide, from 2pm till 4pm on Saturday 19th September.

Members, this goes in your diary right now OK?  Next step is to organise car-pooling.

The committee have been working to form a new clear vision and focus for Permaculture SA, and to capture this in a new proposed constitution. The survey many of you responded to some months ago was an important starting point in this work.  This constitution will be put to the vote at the meeting, and we are hoping for a strong show of support.

We are also hoping for some new faces to step up and be part of next year's committee.  Have a think about doing a bit for permaculture and yourself in this way.

Craig Wilkins, CEO Conservation SA

The meeting itself will take less than an hour, with the rest of the time given over to a short talk from Craig Wilkins, CEO of Conservation SA, on the Joinery as a hub of ecosystem aware activity, and a look at the amazing transportable garden run by Common Ground, who provide accommodation and pathways for people who have experienced homelessness.  And if that isn't enough to induce people to come have a say on the future of SA's peak permaculture body, there will also be yummy local organic catering goodness!

Members will receive official notification of the AGM, including a copy of the proposed new constitution, in the post soon.  Please come along and be part of the beginning of a new phase of permaculture in SA.

Non-members are welcome, but don't get a vote.  There is still time to join though!

Joinery Crowdfunder - They Made it!

Last time I asked you to consider supporting the crowdfunder for the Joinery.  Well, they did reach, and exceed their $10k goal, so thanks to all who chipped in.

Southern Fleurieu Group

The Southern Fleurieu Permaculture Group has been meeting for 7 months, holding a monthly gathering in a range of locations across the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. The group meets each December and June to plan out a 6 monthly calendar with members taking responsibility for planning and/or holding a gathering. The group has about 60 members on the mailing list and there is a Facebook page for the group. The last gathering involved a home butchering demonstration as well as a tour of one members home & garden looking at how they had established a permaculture garden. Gatherings often involve shared meals and there is usually a sharing table for people to bring seeds, seedlings, excess fruit and veg etc to share. The group is child friendly as there are a number of members with young children. Anyone interested in finding out more about the group can contact Desmond - dtford24@bigpond.com

I guess that's quite enough for now. Hope to catch some of you at the gathering on Saturday or at the AGM on September 19th.

Cheers,

Greg
