Brandon City-Wide HOA Group Meeting - Thursday July 30th 2015
Towne Station HOA was represented last night at a Brandon City-Wide HOA Group Meeting, with City officials, including Mayor Butch Lee,
Events Coordinator Lori Farrar, and Economic Development Director Kyle Brown.
Here are some of the highlights and information shared at the meeting:
I-20 Exit 54 - Temporary Closure, TONIGHT July 31st
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has released the following notice:
The westbound lanes of I-20 in Brandon will be temporarily closed to allow the placement of beams on the SR471 bridge over I-20. Traffic will be diverted onto US-80 and will not be able to access the interstate until SR-18 / Crossgates Blvd.
The lane closure will begin at 10pm on Friday July 31st and will be closed until 6am on Saturday August 1st.

So beginning tonight at 10pm, westbound traffic on I-20 will be diverted to Hwy 80 (Government St) at Exit 54 (near the Rankin Co-Op). Traffic will then follow Gov't Street through Downtown Brandon, until Exit 59 at Hwy 18 / Crossgates.
City of Brandon - Burn Ban, Effective July 30th 2015
The City of Brandon has issued a burn ban that prohibits all open-source burning within the city limits. This restriction is necessary due to extremely dry conditions and the hot weather our rea has experienced over the last few weeks.
This INCLUDES all recreational fires.

Exit 59 I-20 West Bound On-Ramp - Estimated to be completed May 2016
Trickhambridge Road intersection with Hwy 80 - Red Light will be installed soon
New Chancery Court Building - Construction should start Spring 2016, behind Rankin County News building
Fire Station - Groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for new Fire Station near Shiloh Park (in our service area). Purchase Orders were also recently completed for the purchase of 2 new Fire Trucks.
New Home Construction 2014
In a GREAT sign of progress and growth, it's reported that $40 million in new homes were constructed within the Brandon City Limits in 2014... the highest in over 10 years.
