Aaron Murray interview by Christian Hosoi
Introduction by Eric "Tuma" Britton
I can’t say enough positive things about Aaron Murray as a person and as a skateboarder. He’s somebody I have always looked up to. As a kid, I wanted to skate, dress and be just like him. He approaches everything he does with a smooth, aggressive, yet calculated style. My love for Murray runs deep. He is a talented skater, artist and musician and loving father. Simply put, Murray is a Koping Killer, one of skateboarding’s pioneers. Click here to read the rest of the story.

Nathan Fletcher
Juice Magazine #73 features a very special interview with Nathan Fletcher by Jay Adams. It was Jay's last interview for Juice before he passed away. Olson describes it best. "Here’s the deal... Two full on chargers getting together to talk... When one goes, would the other? That's easy... Yes! Both can do what they want... Talent is abundant... This was before the departure of one. Missing him as always... Hoping the other is doing what he does... CHARGING! I’m positive he is, without a doubt." Click here to order Juice #73.

Mark "Monk" Hubbard interview by Jim Murphy
We started the Duty Now for the Future articles to honor those skateboarders building concrete for other skateboarders. These skaters are dedicated to building skate structures, day in and day out, where quality is job one and money doesn’t matter as much as the finished product. They are the ones carving the future for generations to come and we want to bring their stories to you in order to understand what goes into building those killer parks that you get to ride! We want to thank these skaters for all their sweat, hard work and dedication to skateboarding! They’re not afraid to lay yards of pool coping down, so get out there and grind it up!!! That is our Duty Now For The Future!

Jeff Ho "No Pozer" Show.
Jeff Ho started building high performance surfboards in the early 60’s and then started Zephyr Productions in the 70’s in what became known as “Dogtown”. Since then Ho has created thousands of highly sought after surfboards. Ho also created the famous Zephyr Competition Team that included skate legends: Jay Adams, Stacy Peralta & Tony Alva – who became widely known as the Z-Boys. Jeff sees the art of surfing and skating as something everyone can do in their own way – there are no rules. Check out this video interview with Jeff Ho and photos from the “No Pozer” Opening Night at the C.A.V.E. Gallery in Venice, California.

If there is a contest to ever watch, it’s the Vans Pool Party at the Combi. Seeing young kids skate that pool as hard as they did was humbling to say the least. Watching the old dogs skate, it was an eye opener… totally fluid never a wasted motion. It was fully inspiring. The finals in the event were mind blowing. These guys skated their hearts out and it was unreal! This is real skateboarding. To finish off the event, it was back-to-back transfers by Pedro Barros and Matt Boyston. If they had hung up, they would have been completely wrecked… white rhino ball sacks on these guys. All I can say is what a total honor. Thank you Vans, Terri Craft, Dan Levy, Jim Murphy, Shawn Smith, Andy Kessler, Jeff Ho and all my old friends I ran into. Now go rip something up.

Duke Kahanamoku Exhibit
Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii, honors the legacy of Duke Paoa Kahanamoku in a special exhibit from Aug. 8 – Nov. 2, 2015 in the J. M. Long Gallery. This exhibit will illuminate the many facets of Duke as an Olympian, surfer, ocean hero, movie star, ambassador of aloha, and family man. Duke, a public figure unrivaled in grace and humility, was a four-time Olympic participant and one of the greatest swimmers and surfers of all time; but his legacy transcends his winning resume. The beauty of Duke’s legendary fame are his core values of aloha, strength of character, and good sportsmanship which have lived, and will continue to live, through generations. The Mt. Baldy Pipeline... Words by James O’Mahoney
In December 1975, Skateboard Magazine team rider and new site scout, Jim Higham, called me and he was so pumped he couldn’t talk. When he finally calmed down, he spit out “Mt. Baldy! It’s a pipe! Found it! Perfect! No one there! It’s ours!” Eureka! The next morning, I picked up Jim Higham, Gary Kocot and Dale Schull for our first taste of Mt. Baldy. Getting there was like following a treasure map, but when we arrived, who would have thought that heaven would be made of cement?! After a couple of laps, we were seeing stars. I think we went to the Pipeline every day after that and were just freaking because we were the only ones there. I took photos, but the light wasn’t quite right. The shot I wanted would have to be around 12 noon when the sun was straight up and down, so the face was lit and the inside pipe background was black. Our crew was Jim Higham, Gary Kocot, Dale Schull, (who said he was going to do a loop, so I made him bring a helmet) plus, our new team rider who ripped in pools, Waldo Autry. For the first couple of hours, we just skated and howled. At about 11, fearless Dale put on his candy red helmet and was positive that he was going to be the first Baldy looper. Dale made it to about 10 o’clock and dropped like a sack of rocks. The light was getting close to perfect, so I went outside and started shooting. For about a half an hour, Waldo exited both sides, but the left side was the one, so we concentrated on his frontside drop in. So with his Skateboard Magazine team shirt, high green socks and shitty board, skateboard history was made. This was the first photo documenting that you could get past vertical on a skateboard. Now 40 years later, published in more than 50 books and magazines, the photo keeps popping up. Waldo Autry has passed on, but he will always be past vertical. Roll in Peace, Waldo Autry.
