WeGO Executive Committee Meeting 2015
September 16-18

 
WeGO announces the successful completion of the WeGO Executive Committee Meeting  2015 in Ulyanovsk, Russia, host of the WeGO Europe Regional Office, with 11 out of 14 of its EXCOM members in attendance. In addition to the discussion of key WeGO agenda, the EXCOM Meeting program featured a Good Practice Sharing Session and Workshop on Emerging Trends in Open Data with experts from Russian Cities and abroad. Immediately prior to the EXCOM Meeting, participants visited Moscow for a two-day program pursuant to a special invitation of the Moscow City Government. More details can be found here.
Apply Now- WeGO at the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) with NIST
November 12-13
 
GCTC is an initiative designed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce, to facilitate partnerships to jointly develop IoT-based solutions. In partnership with NIST, WeGO will facilitate WeGO members’ participation in the GCTC 2016. Both cities that already have an IoT-based solution to promote and cities that want to learn about and find IoT-based solutions are encouraged to join the GCTC! The kick-off meeting will be held from November 12-13 in Washington D.C., so interested parties are highly encouraged to contact the WeGO Secretariat soon!

WeGO warmly invites WeGO members to take the unique opportunity to feature their smart solutions at a special WeGO Pavilion at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC). The SCEWC is the premier global summit for smart cities, which is held annually in Barcelona, Spain, and brings together over 10,000 participants. The WeGO Pavilion, with a size of at least 60 sqm., will be at a prime location at the central exhibition area of the Gran Via Exhibition Center and accommodate separate sections for WeGO members. Apply Now- WeGO Launches the CeDS Online Platform
 
WeGO has launched the City e-Government Diagnostic & Solution Online Platform at http://wego-ceds.org. The CeDS Online Platform is offered exclusively to WeGO Members and features user-friendly and interactive functions for self-assessing a city's e-Government environment. WeGO members are highly encouraged to use this very unique tool to analyze its e-Government maturity! Apply Now- The WeGO eGovFrame Technical Training and Service Program
 
WeGO, along with its technical partner, the National Information Society Agency (NIA), is providing a comprehensive and technical training and service program on the WeGO e-Government Framework (eGovFrame) to help its member cities develop Web and mobile e-Government applications based on the open-source WeGO eGovFrame. The training program is a complimentary, 4-day program targeted specifically to software developers of WeGO member cities and can be arranged in either the home country of the participants or in Korea. WeGO Starts the 2015 Feasibility Study Project
 
WeGO has selected Hanoi (Vietnam) and San Fernando, La Union (Philippines) from a pool of applications as its beneficiary cities for the WeGO Feasibility Study Project 2015 on "Civic Participation Systems". The WeGO Feasibility Project has officially commenced, and WeGO's IT consultants have made their preliminary visits to the beneficiary cities. For more updates on this project, click on this link.
WeGO at the Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on e-Government, Smart Cities, and Digital Societies for Sustainable Development
August 19-20

 
WeGO partnered with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in organizing the Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on e-Government, Smart Cities, and Digital Societies for Sustainable Development. With more than 300 people in attendance, WeGO lead a session on Smart Sustainable Cities, which provided a great opportunity for high-level dialogue among leaders in the smart city movement. High-level speakers from WeGO member cities Da Nang, Pokhara, San Fernando La Union, Seongnam, and Seoul presented at the session. For more information, please click on this link.
WeGO e-Government Training Program in Chengdu, China
July 14-18

 
Following up on its successful WeGO e-Government Training Program in 2014, the WeGO Asia Regional Office, Chengdu held its 2nd e-Government Training Program. The training program was attended by WeGO members from Dar es Salaam, Gimpo, Khartoum State, Seoul, and Ulaanbaatar and focused on topics such as the Economic and Social Development of Chengdu Municipality, e-Government, and Information Security. 
WeGO-UNPOG Joint e-Government Track at the 10th Jeju Forum
May 21-22

 
WeGO successfully co-hosted the Joint e-Government Track with the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) during the 10th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity, one of the most prestigious conferences in Asia. The highlight of the e-Government Track was the “Executive City Dialogue on Building Trust in Local Governments through e-Government” where mayors, vice mayors, and CIOs of WeGO member cities discussed the role of e-Government and its impact to create trust, sustainable development, and harmony in society. WeGO e-Government Training Program 2015: The Seoul Program

15 public officials from WeGO member cities Bandung, Chengdu, Hanoi, Hebron, Khartoum State, Mexico City, Quezon, San Fernando, Ulaanbaatar and Ulyanovsk Region took part in the annual e-Government Training Program organized by WeGO in cooperation with the Seoul Human Resources Development Center (SHRDC). This year’s program offered a special five-day program: after three-day training program at SHRDC in Seoul, all participants flew to the beautiful Korean island of Jeju to attend the e-Government Track sessions jointly organized by WeGO and the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) at the 10th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity. WeGO at the 3rd Meeting of Municipalities for Sustainable Development
April 7-9
 
The WeGO Secretariat and two winning cities of the 2nd WeGO Awards 2014 -- Seoul  and San Fernando La Union -- participated at the 3rd Meeting of Municipalities for Sustainable Development (EMDS), the largest event on sustainability in Brazil, and the 1st International Conference for Sustainable Cities in Brasilia, Brazil. At the event, WeGO hosted the WeGO Awards Workshop and the WeGO Booth at the Best Practice Plaza. More information can be found in this link.
WeGO Welcomes New Members, Beyoglu, Dambulla, East Nile, Malatya, Matale, Seongnam, and NITDA!
 
WeGO is pleased to welcome 6 new member cities to the WeGO Network! These cities are now Full Members of WeGO after receiving the approval of the Executive Committee Members during the recently-concluded EXCOM Meeting in Ulyanovsk Region, Russia. Additionally, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) of Nigeria- which serves as Nigeria's clearing house for all IT projects and infrastructure development- is WeGO's newest Friendship Member.
5th ITU Green Standards Week
December 14-18

 
ITU, along with its partners, will organize the 5th Green Standards Week from December 14-18, 2015 in Nassau, Bahamas. This year, the Green Standards Week is dedicated to the theme of “Cities and Climate Change: From the New Climate Agreement to the New Urban Agenda”, and will be hosted by the Government of the Commonwealth of Bahamas. The Green Standards Week acts as a global platform for discussion and knowledge-sharing in order to raise awareness of the importance and opportunities of using information and communication technologies (ICTs) to expedite the transition to smart sustainable cities and ensuring a sustainable urban future.
