Calling God's people to enter with us into a 21 day season of Kingdom prayer for each other and Grove Park, August 15th-September 5th.  Dates and details below.

Praise Report

<<First Name>>, the Lord has done a mighty work this spring and summer in raising up the outside funding we need to fully plunge into this Shalom Grove Park vision. Praise Him with us!  That is no easy “feat” (often church planters get delayed because of this aspect of the endeavor) The Lord brought it in so faithfully, that, on hard days, when our faith vision grows dim, we can come back to this mighty provision and declare “The Lord is in this! He has provided for this, and He will continue to show His power in this!"

God also seems to be gathering a diverse and gifted group of people together to collectively have an impact on this community.  Our A-Town Wings gathering last month was a great time of good food, meeting new folks, hearing what God is up to in our community, and praying for Grove Park together. We came away very encouraged.

As we start Phase 2 of Shalom Grove Park, and officially finish our residency at Renovation Church, we would like to go into this Fall with prayer and a form of fasting.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says: "If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

We as a couple can humbly confess that food has often been a false god and false comfort to us and we would like to humble ourselves by ascribing to the below "type of fasting" and turn in repentance from the vain things that charm us and so quickly cause us to lose focus on Christ’s  Kingdom and His purposes for us as His people. We are committing to 21 days of daily prayer and seeking the very face of God for wisdom, power and strength for the "shaloming" of our community and our land.

Would you be willing to join us in this endeavor? There is something powerful about fasting and especially when done in community. Even if it is not according to the below plans, would you be willing to fast from something in order to get on your face before the Lord to cry out for an outpouring of His Spirit?

Gathering Dates and Details

  • Saturday, August 15th, 6:00-8:00 pm: We will begin by gathering for a potluck dinner at the Iversons' home, prayer and mapping out of our prayer direction. We will hand out a 21 day prayer guide with Scriptures and prayer emphasis for each day.
  • Sunday August 16th: “Fasting” begins. Also, Renovation Church is using part of their worship service to commission and send us into this mission. They have a 9:30 am, 11:30 am,  and a 5:00 pm service. Hope you can be there to worship with us at one of those.
  • Saturday August 29th, 11-1:00 pm. Prayer Walk and Lunch. We will gather on Evelyn and split up to cover various streets based on how many people show up. After an hour of prayer walking we will end up at 1226 Cafe for lunch (They have great salads)
  • Saturday September 5th 6:00-8:00 pm. Break the “fast” with another Potlock at the Iversons’ house and sharing “Shalom Stories” of what God is doing in our community and the next steps for the Fall.

Please prayerfully consider joining us in this time of seeking God, interceding and listening for Him to show us "the way we should go” and connecting better with each other.  Even if you are still seeking God's leading in regards to your involvement, we would love to have you participate in this with us as we begin launching our mission to awaken, strengthen and multiply Spirit-filled disciples of Jesus who are discovering and displaying the Shalom of God into all areas of life.

or choose to give up something that will free your heart and mind up to focus on prayer and interceding for each other and Grove Park.

We are super excited to move forward in the power of God's Spirit and see Him do a mighty work for His glory and the flourishing and renewal of His creation.

For the King and the Kingdom,

If you would choose to be involved, please let us know and send any of your prayer requests to us before the 14th so we can add them to this prayer guide.

Please feel free to invite other Grove Park folks to participate in this who like to pray. We want this to be something that really unifies us as God's people and strengthens the work God is already doing here and is about to do as well.

*Shalom is the Hebrew word for holistic peace. It is a word used throughout Scripture to describe the absolute joy, flourishing, fulfillment, and bliss found in the presence of God, and the beautiful interdependent relationships God’s people eternally share with Him, each other, and all of creation. Shalom is what has come into the world through Christ, and is made complete when Christ returns and fully eradicates sin and death forever. God is glorified as Shalom happens. We have a mission as God’s people to discover and display the Shalom of God’s Kingdom to this hurting world by faithfully proclaiming the Gospel in WORD and DEED as we share life with our neighbors and seek the peace of Atlanta.
