God has a plan of justice, mercy, truth, cooperation and brotherhood which will bring peace upon this earth. As we worship God these qualities become part of our nature and we become fit inhabitants of the world God created. Human beings should worship God not alone to show their allegiance and dependence upon their Creator, but to absorb from Him the essential qualities of a permanent civilization.

What are the qualities that you attribute to the Divine? What aspects of the Divine do you find admirable in others? By picking up this book, you say that you are seeking enlightenment. What is enlightenment, other than the incorporation of light (or the Divine) into yourself and then sharing that light with others?

Find what those qualities of the Divine are that you resonate with by answering the questions above. Remind yourself every morning that these are the very qualities that you want to emulate, to incorporate into your daily life, to use as guiding principles for your actions. When you are faced with a decision, use these qualities to measure the choices and act accordingly.

If you are stuck in figuring out which qualities are the ones that resonate most strongly for you, you could do worse than to choose those listed in the quote above: justice, mercy, truth, cooperation, and brotherhood.
