SUDS PRESENTS: ART

July 29th - August 1st & August 5-8th | 7:30pm | The Cellar Theatre

A play by by Yasmina Reza.

Serge buys an expensive contemporary painting. Marc can’t believe it. Yvan does his best. It’s plain white. Three close friends have it out in a Parisian apartment over the canvas on the wall. Much that has remained unspoken throughout their years together is lured to the surface, and the seemingly harmless painting threatens to be what shatters their friendships. More info here.

Book tickets here now!

SUDS PRESENTS: All My Sons

12 – 15 August & 19 – 22 August | 7pm | The Cellar Theatre

A play by Arthur Miller

“We used to shoot a man who acted like a dog, but honour was real there, you were protecting something. But here? This is the land of the great big dogs, you don't love a man here, you eat him. That's the principle; the only one we live by”

Ohio, 1946; a year after Japan’s surrender ends WWII, Larry still hasn’t come home. As a family questions how long to continue waiting for their son, the return of Larry’s fiancé in pursuit of love with his brother sparks a series of events forcing a community to confront its past. More info here.

Ticket booking coming soon.

SUDS READ THROUGH: Unsaid et Misheard

18th August | 5pm | The Cellar Theatre

Come read the first draft of a very ambitious bilingual play by Alana Cherry & Victoria Zerbst (they will be bringing wine & baked goodies).

Bilingual? What? Oui. Yes. It’s half English & half French! A mudblood!  We’d call the play an ‘intellectual romcom skirting on absurdism and featuring a cabaret number.’ There is also a clown/mime.

It is hella playful. It flirts with some philosophical ideas from Derrida, Baudrillard, Foucault, and Lyotard, but there is also some tru sentimentality and you will leave with feelings. More info here.

SUDS READ THROUGH: Lady

1st September | 6pm | The Cellar Theatre

They say that behind every hero stands a woman. But behind every woman there is another story: the story of the failure of the world to let her become herself. Who was Lady Macbeth before she was Lady Macbeth?

Lady is a play written by Jess Zlotnik, which takes Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth and gives her a voice and a story. There will be red wine for blood (you can have white wine too don’t worry).

Come hear/see the first incarnation of this play which deals with ideas of womanhood, ambition and the sacrifices we make in being unapologetically human. Then stick around for a Q&A session to make the play better! Hope to see you there. More info here.
