Nutrition champions 2015

We need to know more about what it takes to build leadership in nutrition into action. Transform Nutrition are now inviting nominations to recognise any individual who has had significant success in transforming thinking or action on nutrition. Nominations are open from 13 July – 15 September 2015.

Together for nutrition

This successful conference in Addis in June was a collaboration between Transform Nutrition, IFPRI’s Ethiopia Strategy Support Programme and POSHAN. It focused on new research highlighting the drivers of impressive recent improvements in child nutrition in Ethiopia. Participants emphasised the importance of linking interventions in nutrition to interventions in other sectors such as health and agriculture..

Unravelling Commitment?

A new Evidence Report from IDS and Transform Nutrition is now out Unraveling commitment? An empirical assessment of political commitment to reduce hunger and undernutrition in five high burden countries which demonstrates that developing countries often have divergent strengths of commitment to hunger reduction and to nutrition.

India short course

Global commitment on nutrition has increased but we need to build the leadership necessary to lock in these levels of commitment. For the second time the popular Transforming Nutrition in India short course will be held in Delhi 7-11 December. Applications are invited now. Read last years course report for more information.
 

Scaling up impact 

A new review Scaling Up Impact on Nutrition: What Will It Take? by Transform Nutrition of 4 case studies of large-scale nutrition programs with proven impact at scale, highlights a need for greater coherence and consistency and sets out 9 critical elements to guide actions for scaling up impact on nutrition.

Nutrition Service Delivery in Bihar

Frontline workers are integral to delivering nutrition services to communities in developing countries. A new study Predictors of Essential Health and Nutrition Service Delivery in Bihar, India analysed frontline health worker performance, and found that a combination of choices of services and incentives are crucial motivators for effective delivery of these services at the community level. 

Transforming nutrition short course at IDS

New project partner

Following a proposal call from Transform Nutrition and Agriculture for Nutrition and Health, APHRC will be working with us on a new short study called Social Return on Investment –Home Based Nutritional Counselling Intervention in Urban Poor Settings, Nairobi, Kenya. We will look at home based nutritional counselling interventions in urban poor settings in Nairobi, Kenya and ask is there a social return on investing in these initiatives?
