Reaching out with English


It's that time of year again! We are pleased to announce REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for our annual Reaching out with English course.
This 30-hour course (taught over three weekends) offers practical instruction for teaching English to adults in your church or community.
 
Date: October 2-3; 16-17 and 30-31.
Time: Fridays: 6-9:30 pm and Saturdays 8:30 am - 4:30 pm


Learn how to:
  • Start a new ESL program or make you existing program more effective.
  • Teach various skill areas (pronunciation, grammar, conversation) more effectively.
  • Explore teaching in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Serve beginning through advanced learners.
  • Develop effective lesson plans
  • Locate resources for continued professional development
Observe English language classes taught by experienced TESL teachers.
Practice teaching: prepare and teach ESL learning activities to adult students.


Cost: $295 per person. $260 early bird until September 21. Space is limited

CIWA Office Administration Program

The Office Administration Program for Immigrant Women is a full-time, 24 week employment training program, designed to help participants join the Canadian workforce.

Intake will begin in October 2015
Recruitment is already underway.

Who can apply?

Immigrant women who are:
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Permanent residents
  • Educated and/or professional experienced in administrative positions
  • Canadian Language Benchmarks of 7 or higher
