HIV Housing Care Continuum Regional Meetings

In collaboration with HUD’s Office of HIV/AIDS Housing and the National AIDS Housing Coalition, Collaborative Solutions, Inc. has been tasked with carrying out a comprehensive Technical Assistance (TA) initiative that will include a series of regional meetings focused on the connection between stable housing and improved outcomes along the HIV Care Continuum. This TA effort will advance the White House HIV Care Continuum Initiative and the goals established by the HIV Care Continuum Federal Working Group by increasing the ability of the Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) grantees to measure health outcomes and to understand how stable housing impacts health status and access to health care for persons living with HIV/AIDS.

Through guided discussions and strategic planning sessions, participants will develop strategies in their own communities to:
  1. Improve ability to measure client health outcomes;

  2. Create strategic partnerships to build a local HIV Housing Care Continuum; and

  3. Utilize local data to benefit clients by demonstrating the link between housing and health and engaging in cross-system advocacy efforts.
Who should attend?
Communities are invited to participate in one of four regional meetings to convene representatives from the HOPWA provider network along with local/state surveillance data and healthcare representatives to complete a planning session to develop goals and strategies to develop a local HIV Housing Care Continuum. Expert facilitators and subject matter experts will coordinate and staff these meetings and provide pre- and post-meeting assistance.

The four regional meetings will include:

Chicago, IL
August 31-September 1, 2015

Washington, DC: The North American Housing & HIV/AIDS Research Summit
September 16, 2015

Atlanta, GA

By building and implementing an HIV Housing Care Continuum, agencies will encounter a number of opportunities including strategic partnerships that could lead to improved collaboration and coordination between the housing and health care systems, as well as a powerful advocacy tool that will not only demonstrate the link between housing and health, but provide for cross-system dialogue aimed at reducing new HIV infections and improving health outcomes for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
