TTWLA &
Mayberry Elementary
The final performance at Mayberry Elementary in Los Angeles at the end of May was another stunning show! The LA's BEST site coordinator was floored at everything the students had created, from sets to dances to costumes. And she also said the performance had the highest attendance of parents she had ever seen.
"You know the kids are excited about the program, and telling their parents about it at home, when the parents show up"
- Site Coordinator, LA's BEST
What a huge success!
Turning the Wheel LA is excited to continue their partnership with LA's BEST in the fall.

Powerful Stories from Temescal Academy
At the end of our program at Temescal Academy in the Palisades we explored a powerful exercise in coming to agreement. We played a game called seeds activated where groups of three or four would "activate" a spoken scene from a static seed. At first all the groups jumped into spoken scenes with lots of arguing and conflict.
After a few moments of playing Morgan paused the game and presented the idea that in the next set of scenes the characters would reach an agreement or come to consensus. With that cue a magical thing happened, all of the teens took the suggestion and quickly moved into agreement, collaboration, and conflict-free communication within the context of their scenes
In one group, the facilitator watched the teens realize the habit in real time. The scene started in the same place as it had before, in disagreement, however after a few moments all three teens in the group noticeably shifted, letting go of the conflict and moving the scene forward with a "Yes And" mentality. After the game the teens in the workshop shared how powerful it felt to them to agree in a scene.
