Computing Insights for August 2015 - Windows 10 Upgrade Issues

4th Edition with Windows 10 Upgrade Update

Computers open the world of information and entertainment and we are dedicated to making that experience stable, enjoyable and interesting.

Here are some topics we will be covering in this edition :

- Windows 10 Upgrade NOT READY FOR UPGRADE
____________________

I apologize for multiple Newsletters this month, but because of the Windows 10 upgrade offer and the many questions I'm receiving about it, and problems I'm fielding from those who have upgraded, I have felt it could be very helpful to you if I addressed them as I find issues and fixes during this initial breakout phase. If you aren't interested in these please just delete them from your emails and accept my apology for multiple unwanted emails.

Windows 10 Upgrade is NOT READY:

I am writing this update on the Windows 10 upgrade to say to you in the very strongest terms - PLEASE WAIT NO LESS THAN 3 MONTHS to do the free upgrade.

It is a complete disaster for a large percentage of folks who have tried the upgrade. In some cases it has gone just fine, but in a great many cases it hasn't.

If you do try the upgrade and then are sorry you did you have one month to roll it back to the previous version you had installed but you'll probably need a little assistance from me in doing so. In many cases I'm hearing the roll back is not full proof, and you may have lingering problems resulting from rolling it back.

When will Windows 10 really be ready??? I wish I knew, but right now I'm encouraging everyone to wait at the very least 3 months...maybe more.

If you decide to give it a try I'll be happy to try to help you resolve problems that arise, but in many cases we'll need to have me completely reinstall your previous version of Windows, all of your programs, all of your files backed up, and the cost...$150. Please save yourself the money and headaches and wait for at least 3 months.

Best of success to you in all your computing!

I’m here to assist you when you need it.  As just a reminder... my onsite residential fee is $45 per hour and for the commercial setting it is $55 per hour and will continue through the month of March. For those times when working remotely with your computer over the Internet is a good option then the cost savings to you are substantial since I only need to charge on a "15 minute" increment instead of the full hour fee for an onsite visit. This means just $12 per 15 minutes. Once again...for any clients you send my way, who use my services for an hour or more, I'd be happy to credit you with $12 of free computer service at your next call.  Do let me know if you send folks my way and I'll keep notes on that as a credit for my next visit to you, and don't feel embarrassed to remind me you would like that credit when I visit.

Thanks so much!
