Excessive Heat Watch Issued for This Weekend
The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Watch on the night of August 13, 2015. It has been upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning for August 14th at 1 p.m. (1300 hrs) until Sunday, August 16th at 8 p.m. (2000 hrs) for the following areas:
- San Fernando Valley,
- San Gabriel Valley,
- Lower mountain areas,
- Santa Monica Mountains, and
- Ventura County.
The San Fernando Valley, specifically Woodland Hills, is currently experiencing temperatures of 104 ◦ F. Temperatures will be increasing tomorrow to 106◦ F -107 ◦ F, with a possible high of 108 ◦ F. The lower mountain areas and the inland coast will also be affected. Downtown Los Angeles will experience highs in the lower 90s. Overnight lows in the Valley areas will be in the 70s. The surrounding Inland Area Empire will also be experiencing excessive heat.

The Special Session Returns but still no sign of urgency to repair the collapsing developmental services system.
We've got to show our policymakers that we won't let this community fail without a serious fight.
Both the California Assembly and the Senate have scheduled hearings for the special session to discuss funding for the developmental disabilities system. The hearings are set for the morning then the afternoon Tuesday, August 18, 2015.
The Senate Public Health and Developmental Services Committee - 2nd Extraordinary Session
The Public Health and Developmental Services Committee will be having an informational hearing on August 18 at 9:30 a.m. in room 4203.
Subject: Second Extraordinary Session/Informational Hearing August 18, 2015
Title: Managed care Organization Tax Options and Issues.
Assembly Public Health and Developmental Services - 2nd Extraordinary Session

The next Special Session hearing in the Assembly is scheduled for August 18, 2015 in room 4202 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be an informational hearing on funding developmental services. No details have been published yet. Still no bills scheduled yet for committee (see attached special session bills).
