Greetings ACM!

As with each year at NSC, a lot of things were "made" this year: new memories, new connections and networks, new ministry ideas, new lessons through workshops and Marc Imboden's main sessions; and through FAME, we even made enough disaster relief food packages to feed tens of thousands of people facing food shortages!

Speaking of new connections, we welcomed several new campus ministers and interns to the ACM including Jim & Dixie Davis.  Hear what they have to share after returning from this year's conference:

A Lavish Welcoming to the Family
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”  Try to recall when you first started reading God’s word and found verses like 1 John 3:1.  Isn’t it refreshing and encouraging learning that He lavishes, or gives in great abundance, His love to us and calls us children?  We were created to live in a family with other likeminded children of God.  This is where we find hope and encouragement as we spur one another on throughout our journey.

Being new to campus ministry I have several fears and anxieties over how our first year will turn out.  Realizing it’s normal to feel this way, I still long to trust God in the calling and simply have peace as I prepare for the year ahead.  In my preparations I asked the outgoing campus minister where I should look for a community of believers that share my wife and I’s desires for campus ministry and likely understand our anxiety about the year ahead.  He quickly referred me to ACM and suggested that I attend the National Student Conference.

This past week I attended the 2015 National Student Conference in Evansville Indiana.  What I found there was much more than a community of believers that had campus ministry in common…I found a family!  A family that understood my first year fears and anxiety and answered that with support and encouragement.  A family that seemed to say, “welcome home” with every brother and sister that I met.  A family that wrapped their arms around me and sincerely wanted to contribute their time, talent and blessing to our ministry at Northwest CCH.  With every main session, workshop and networking opportunity I found myself walking away with a renewed sense of my calling and a journal full of notes that undoubtedly will help me in my first year of campus ministry.  More than anything, I found a family that loves God and praises Him for lavishing them with His love.  Because of that, they lavishly welcomed me in.  I can’t wait to return next year celebrating what God has done.  Thank you ACM for a wonderful first year at the conference.
Jim and Dixie Davis recently accepted the call to serve as the lead Campus Ministers at Northwest Christian Campus House on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville Missouri.  Jim has spent the last 15 years as a community bank CFO and will be transitioning to bi-vocational ministry this fall.  Jim and Dixie have 3 kids, Davin (12), Delton (10) and Nyah (9).  Jim can be reached at northwestcch@gmail.com.

Your Brainstorms

In addition to a Prayer Room, this year, we had a Brainstorming Room for folks to think about ministry in a hands-on way.  Here are some things you came up with!
