WHAT'S GROWIN' ON?

We are embarking on a brand new adventure for the Ag Museum...the 2015 Giving Challenge! If you are on our email list or have liked us on Facebook, you may already be familiar with our "Get Your Cowboy On" campaign. We rely on donations to provide excellent educational programming to our local schools, fun community events for families, and quality exhibits for your learning pleasure...most of which are free of charge! We need you to help us make the most of the Giving Challenge, which is an online opportunity to contribute to our organization. Between noon on September 1st and noon on September 2nd, donations must be made online at:                                                                                 www.givingpartnerchallenge.org
Thanks to The Patterson Foundation, any gift made by a donor between $25 to $250 will be matched 1:1. So your dollars will be automatically doubled!! We hope lots of you will support us during these 24 hours. Small contributions make a HUGE difference in the life of a non-profit.

We will be recording our earnings and sharing them with you through the barn door and crates that you see in the photo above. For every $150 the Museum earns during the Challenge, another hat or boot will appear on the barn door or on the crates. If you want to keep up with the Giving Challenge earnings, make sure you "like us" on Facebook!

The Giving Challenge is made possible by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and The Patterson Foundation with support from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Manatee Community Foundation, and the Herald - Tribune Media Group.

Here's What's Sprouting

Ag Museum Closed Month of September

The Ag Museum and the Palmetto Historical Park will be closed for the month of September. During that time the staff will be at the Florida Association of Museum’s annual conference as well as working on some projects such as reorganizing our relatively new collections storage room and designing some new exhibits. Being closed benefits us by being able to spread out around the museum! We are looking forward to this time and will re-open October 1st.

Halloween Social - October 17th - 4:00 pm

Start putting together your costume because we'll be counting on you to help scare up a good time at our Halloween Social! Children can trick or treat at all the buildings in the Historical Park, Fabulous Fatimir will once again be telling fortunes, creepy crafts and activities will abound! If you are part of a group who would like to sponsor a craft or activity, give us a call at 721-2034. And we are looking for "actors" who can help us create Ms. Frizzle's Magic School Bus here in the Ag Museum!

                                 Fudgie Pattie

We've discovered something silly at Mixon Fruit Farm! The Mixon Pasture Pattie is a delicious "pie" of homemade fudge with a chewy Cow Tale tucked alongside - it's the perfect gift when you want to show ag folks how udderly fantastic they are! Or use it to let someone know that you're there when the chips are down. It's guaranteed to moooove them! Hey Museum Board Member, Dean Mixon...was this your idea? Bully for you! If you'd like to order a pattie, give Jay a call at 748-5829 x208.

Halloween Help
We need donations of candy or trinkets for prizes at our Halloween Social, October 17th. Please call 721-2034 if you are able to help.
Palmetto's Carnegie Library is in Danger!
Leaky windows are causing the walls to buckle and bow, endangering the historical structure as well as the artifacts and archives housed inside. Contact Tori Edwards through the button below to find out ways to help us Save Our Library!
