Summer Updates: Exhibitions, an Award & a Publication
from Artist Matthew Felix Sun
August 2015
Dear friends and art lovers:
Thank you very much for your continuous support! This year is a busy year for me and I have much to share.
I just delivered five oil paintings for an exciting exhibit, Today's Artists Interact with Major Art Movements: Renaissance to Present, at Arts Passage in Downtown Berkeley (2055 Center Street).
August 22 - November 11, 2015
Opening: August 22, Saturday, 4-6pm
The show is curated and organized by Expressions Gallery, Berkeley CA
I'm going to exhibit these pieces: Siege, Mackerel, In Distant Country, Progression, and The Triumph of St. George:
Currently, I am showing at Expressions Gallery in a show titled Water, Water! Water? My Leisurely is a piece I would describe as "a beautiful presentation of a disaster". The show continues till October 16th. In addition, on August 29 (Noon-2:30pm), I will be at the galley to meet and greet, and you are welcome to stop by to chat, to see a wonderful exhibit, and have some light refreshment in the gallery or its lovely sculpture garden.
Previously this year, I also participated in another group show titled HOP, SKIP & JUMP at Expressions Gallery, with my Devils' Dance injecting some dissonance into an otherwise innocuous summer-fun exhibition.

A print and online review magazine, Owen Wister Review, published by the University of Wyoming, has announced that they are to publish three works of mine later this year, Stairwell, Rafting, and Ink and Watercolor Lilies:

Earlier this year, I was awarded a 3rd 2015 ArtSlant Showcase Award for my mixed-media work Niobe (detail shown), with folded paper dresses washed with ink and oil, and pinned to a board, representing the foolish and tragic Niobe and her slain children.
A small but wonderful token of recognition.

Once again, I sincerely thank you, dear friend and art lover, for your wonderful support and the kindred spirit!
My full C.V. (14/8/2015) can be seen on ArtSlant or download from PDF.
