Hi Moms and Dads

Hope you all had a super weekend, particularly the mom’s as we celebrated Women’s Day!
Hat’s off to all the wonderful women out there who tirelessly work, nurture and care for their family. We salute you!!
 
If you are interested, ROCK ACADEMY are having their OPEN DAY on Wednesday this week from 8.30am-9.30am.

TRIVIA EVENING- AN EVENING OF FUN AND LAUGHTER!!

Please remember to join us on Friday evening for our school Trivia, 7pm for 7.30pm. The cost is R50 per person. Please put your names up on the booking sheets outside each classroom. You can select a table to sit at. We will collect your R50 on the evening. Please remember to bring your own drinks and snacks for the table. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME!
RUGBY WORLD CUP PREDICTION CHALLENGE
We will be doing a Rugby World Cup prediction Challenge for the World Cup rugby, starting in September this year.
To participate in this challenge costs R100 per person and there are fabulous prizes for the winners.
Open to anyone who feels that they can predict the winners of each match. All scores will be tallied and the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the World Cup final.

REPLY SLIPS

Reply slips were sent out last week asking if you could please let us know if your child will be staying at our school for 2016 or if they will be leaving to go to another school. Please this is most important so that we can organise our numbers and classes for next year!
Please send in the reply slips by 14th August!
 

HEARING SCREENING TESTS

All went well with our hearing tests. Results were given to the teachers to hand out to the parents. Thank you to those who sent their child.

Important

Thank you to those who consciously make an effort to close the gate on entering and leaving the school. We have seen an improvement. Please continue to be aware of the gate at all times and please make sure it is closed.
Also Please do not park in the small road in front of Paul Greyling’s gate, as it blocks their access!!

OUR ON GOING MANDELA DAY PROJECT!
FOOD FOR A FRIEND

Soup is made on a Wednesday to take to Rainbow Educare on Thursday morning. Please donate ingredients. This is a most worthly cause and you are giving about 60 children something to look forward to each Thursday. We need soup mix and vegetables as well as soup powder and stock. We also need moms to help make the soup. We have the pot and the container, we just need your love in making it!! Contact me or Cathy if you are able to help.

Also we have some desperate families in our school who are in need of tinned food items to sustain them for the month. If you have an extra penny, please buy a tin and put it in the black box at the front gate! Thanks for your kindness.

No: 10 - 15 Months of the year.
We're continuing to play co-operative board games and  during outdoor lessons.
Skills: Tying shoelaces.
Activities at home Identifying letters in the environment. Eg Pick + Pay Caltex BP. On cereal boxes tins etc.
The Shark class are having a dress up day on Friday 14th August. Theme: People from other countries- lets be creative!!

Hope you all enjoyed your "Women 's Day" long weekend.
We continue to discuss "Reptiles" and "Persistence, when trying to attain a goal".  The children have been very enthusiastic learning about Reptiles.  Thank you to all those who have brought items or books in about our theme. 
We have played some games this past week to encourage Persistence.  Please encourage your children at home to persist(keep trying) when something is difficult. 
 Please remember our upcoming "Trivia Evening" this Friday.  There is a form on our notice board to put your name down if you would like to come.  It is such a fun, relaxing evening and a great way to build on your general knowledge.  It would be wonderful if we could get a few Starfish Parent tables. 
 We have organised an outings to the "Firestation" and a visit from CMR during the weeks that we learn about "People who help us/Occupations".  CMR- On 2nd Sept and 9th Sept.
When your children cut, encourage them to hold the scissors correctly and cut carefully on the line.  Thumb in top hole and Peter Pointer/Toby Tall in the lower hole.  This gives them more control when cutting.

Focus-Number Recognition 1-10.
Hello! Trust that you are all well and had a good a long weekend
PLEASE! PLEASE! Toys are not allowed at school,show and tell is ONLY on a Friday! Books relating to the theme are welcome but NO TOYS!!!
TIPS FOR PARENTS: Try and put maths into activities at home eg:count how many toys you've packed away,how many forks are on the table,how many adults are in our house etc Get children to try and recognise different numbers, be it on a cereal box or on your number plate. Have fun!

Penguins

The Penguins had a fantastic braai on Friday. Thank you for sending the sausage and thank you to those who donated marshmallows. We will continue our theme of Winter this week.
Our Focus will be Ball skills. Encourage lots of catching and throwing and kicking.
EQ:Perserverance
On Friday we will have a pyjama day and movie day. You don’t have to send anything, only your child in pyjamas!

Dolphins

Hello all Dolphin parents.
I trust you all had a wonderful long weekend. - A big thankyou to all my moms for helping with the lifting and watching the children when we went to the fire station on Wednesday, your help is greatly appreciated.
This week our theme will be the Policeman and how they help us.
We will have show and tell on Wednesday, children to bring one item to talk about at morning ring.
EQ:This week we are still focusing on " Helping and being kind to each other". 
Please remember to put in warm spare clothes as accidents do happen.

Our theme is keeping myself safe. Try and give your child opportunities and reasons for doing or not doing something. Remember to bring back the forms so we know if your child is coming next year.

Tuesday 11th August- BOG Meeting for all committee members 7pm
Friday 14th August- Trivia Evening. R50 per person
Thursday 20th August- Aquarium vist to the school and puppet show. This is for Penguin, Angelfish, Starfish and Shark children.
Friday 21st August- NAPTOSA Conference for All the teaching staff, relief staff will be organised.
Friday 28th August- Penguin Cake sale ( Please can the Penguin parents bring in the goodies for the cake sale. Homemade is best!!)

SPARE CLOTHES
Please remember to pack in some spare clothes for your child each day, particularly the younger ones. The children often need to change for various reasons and it becomes a little tricky when there is nothing for them to wear!!!
