Matt Overton Organizing Village Renaissance Faire Opportunity

I have returned from Yellowstone and would like to begin finalizing plans for the Village Renaissance Faire. It is being held on September 19 and 20th from 9am to 6pm. Ken Hone, who runs the Faire (proceeds go to the Village Library of Wrightstown), has offered and we have committed to space inside one of the pavilions for displaying, demonstrating, and selling locally crafted art, and not just woodturning- this is open to local artists of other media as well as wood artists.

My idea is to have a substantial presence of local artists, including students, displaying their best work so as to draw many of the 9000 visitors in, peak their interest and hopefully open their wallets so it is a rewarding experience for everyone.  If it is fun and profitable we could make this a permanent part of the Faire each year. I’m guessing we probably need a minimum of 8 to 10 artists. Each artist will have their own space to set up their own displays, canopies or tents. One of the spaces will be set up as a recruitment table for Bucks Woodturners and any other club or guild that wants to help man the table.

A few details: the space is 60 feet wide by 30 feet deep (or as deep as we need). There is no cost for space, but tables are not being provided by the Faire. While costumes are not required, subtle earth tone clothing is requested. Each space needs to be manned both days. The space will be locked at night. At the end of the Faire we simply need to leave the space as clean as we found it.

This is a great opportunity for local exposure. I would like to hear from everyone who would like to participate in this event by August 18th. I would also like to have a small committee of participants to meet and organize some logistics in the next 2 weeks. Let's try to make this great event.  You can mail me at mofuels@hotmail.com or call me at 215-778-3091

Thanks,
Matt Overton
