Farm to Table
Cedarock Park’s Historic Farm will once again host the annual Farm to Table Program, presented by the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee, on September 22nd & 23rd.
This program is an opportunity for area 4th-graders to learn about agriculture in our community. Students see farm animals (baby chicks, cows, goats, and bees), fruits, vegetables and other plants, as well as farming equipment up close. They also hear from presenters that work in the industry and rotate through nine different stations representing various areas of agriculture.
Approximately 800 students attend the event each year. It is the Committee’s hope that each student will learn something new about food production and walk away with a better understanding of the importance of agriculture. For more information, contact Laura Swift at 336-228-1338 or lauraswift@alamancechamber.com.

Foxfire in Cedarock Park
On July 18th, we held Canning: The Foxfire Way & Now, the third event in the Foxfire in Cedarock Park series. About 25 participants joined us to enjoy an excellent presentation by Jeannie Dunn and Wendy Burgess on food preservation methods from the past and now, as well as a complete demonstration of canning tomatoes from start to finish.
The next Foxfire event will be Pottery in Alamance County on September 19th at 1pm at the Cedarock Park Historical Farm. Susan Kern, owner of Falcon Lane Pottery and a founding member of the Alamance Artisans Guild, will share the history of pottery in Alamance County. Participants will get hands-on experience as they create their own piece of pottery to take home (hands-on activity is first come, first served). The final Foxfire event is Ghosts in the Park storytelling on October 17th at 7pm.

Impact Alamance Awards Grant to ACRPD for Playground Improvement
The Alamance County Recreation & Parks Department (ACRPD) recently received a grant from Impact Alamance for renovation and replacement of the playground at Eli Whitney Recreation Center. Impact Alamance’s mission is to strategically invest in our community for hope, health and prosperity. The organization came about from the merger of Alamance Regional Medical Center and Cone Health and one of their priority areas is to increase access to physical activity.
Eli Whitney offers open gym, a fitness center, an outdoor walking track, an athletic field, and a playground structure. The Center also hosts the annual Uncle Eli’s Quilting Party every April, which has been held at the facility for 84 years.
ACRPD would like to thank Impact Alamance for its investment in helping us replace the outdated playground structure to better serve families in this community!

Our 2 oldest campers, Marquell and Josh, led and organized the show for the group- they did a great job, along with the staff that assisted them. Thanks to everyone for their hard work!
