Research Update

TREC Measurement System (TMS)

We are busy planning and developing various feedback reports to be shared with facilities that were involved in the first wave of survey data collection last winter. Feedback will involve facility staff and decision makers.

Starting in October we will deliver our findings in two ways:

  1. Regional summits for facility administrators and regional decision makers
  2. Individual facility visits for frontline staff

Each Regional Summit will include an overview of our findings so far. We'll review reports for each facility, facilitate roundtable discussions, and provide networking opportunities for attendees. TREC Regional Leads and Regional Project Coordinators will also visit each participating facility to present feedback tailored to the needs and requests of staff from each facility, reaching as many frontline staff as possible.

SCOPE

The SCOPE intervention uses small quality improvement teams of health care aides and professional staff. Teams will be provided with quality improvement packages which they will use to improve a quality indicator of their choice.

We've completed field testing of the first change package focused on recognizing pain. Care Aides from the original SCOPE Pilot have reviewed the package and provided suggestions on how to make the content and design more user-friendly for future SCOPE participants. We thank them for their time and insights. We will use their comments to build our two remaining change packages: improving mobility and responsive behaviors to dementia.

Qualitative interviews are now being scheduled with selected advice seekers, boundary spanners, and network leaders in the Atlantic provinces. Interviews will be completed by the end of October.
